20250626_214233.jpg Here's my current storage setup, I deleted the rear seats on my access cab and used some pack outs and a plywood platform, really useful since I have two sets of tools that I use regularly and have to take in and out of the truck every day for work, I've seen others do it before but I think the thread was closed and wanted to share mine in case anyone had any questions or suggestions

Would there be more space if the plastic back rests were removed?

    Genuinely curious

I dig it, not only does it hide and keep most of the tools and packouts away from passing/prying eyes, but the hinged covers are smart. A solid platform for the pups to jump in back there, and give them a decently stable platform for the four legs. A fine job OP

Looks great and does the trick. I used to have the dual tool box and gun safe setup.

Not with my setup, but I have everything held down or tight in the pack outs with the organizing dividers, I can also use the baby seat attachment points and the bolts left over from the seat belts to bungee cord any bigger items. And the wood panel is lined with non slip drawer liner like for tool boxes so even if things aren't tied down they tend to stay in place

Maybe a few inches, but those back panels are responsible for a lot of the noise deadening so if I removed them I'd probably get a ton of drone on the highway

    Looks good.

I’ve been eyeballing one of the Milwaukee pack out for awhile. I like how they have a bolt in panel to snap & lock it in if needed. The options of different brands and sizes seems endless. Milwaukee seemed to have the most useable options and features. I ended up being cheap and used cardboard boxes held in place with those nite ize cam jam rope tensioners.

They're great and durable, tons of options for storage and organization but quite pricey so I'd look for deals on FB or specials at home depot

I took out the plastic backrests and replaced it with a mole panel somebody made, I forgot who. It was much noisier. So I removed the panel and applied sound deadener. Then we had some fabric based insulation in plastic that was used in shipping perishable food. I laid that in there, mounted the mole panel and it's held together very well for about 2 years. I think it's better than the factory insulation. I also got about 3" more of space at the bottom where the OEM plastic was curved out.

Oh, almost forgot, there is a large plastic vent that runs through the back of the cab. I didn't want to just plug the vent so I attached a piece of plastic (I may have also put sound deadener on the backside) between the vent and mole panel. Worked really well, I think.
