ridgid makes some pretty nice stuff . . . i've got the 3612.

 

nice! curious to hear what ya think of it . . . it's got a tensioning lever! for me at least, that's a must-have for a bandsaw. oh, and tool-less guide adjustments!

 

I'd like to find someone that makes a 3/4 wide blade for it since it will handle them. I'm still working on designing a table for it for resawing.
I do like the dual speed option and the toolless guide adjustments are fantastic. It's quiet compared to my Rikon 10 inch. The 4 inch dust port works well and it actually has a removable dust bucket on the inside of the lower door. The blade tension guide is handy. It's half the price of a Rikon 14 inch. This will cut 8 inch high, while the Rikon 14 will cut 13 inch high, but if I have 13 x 13 logs, I probably couldn't lift them anyways. The 8 inch gives me more than enough over my Rikon 10, where I was limited to about 4 5/8 inches of cutting height.

I want to build or buy a taller fence and again, find some 3/4 blades for it, but otherwise it's working great for me.

 

that's awesome! i've got the grizzly g0555 with riser block, and it says it'll do 3/4". but, i tried and didn't feel i could get the tension i wanted with it. i've always been able to find 1/2" blades that'll handle up to about 12".

basically, just increases your cutting height. think mine was a 6" riser. i don't resaw tons of stuff that's taller, but the extra capacity is nice.

Nice.. also that link to the blades has the 100 inch blade length needed for the Bauer so that's helpful. Right now I am breaking down logs, so I don't need anything super precise but thank you for letting me know I have options for the future.

 

Another thing to note about my bandsaw upgrade is I went from 1/3 HP to 1HP.. so that's made a huge difference right there.

 

i was checking out the reviews w/ pics on that saw, and first one showed someone with a "bow" fence. remember seeing that a little while ago, and they seem pretty nice.

I saw one of those in a shop about a month ago.. wasn't on my radar at the time but I may have to revisit the idea... though the MDF fence I made for the Rikon works well

No woodworking here for a few days. Switched the shop back to a garage to work on my old 2000 Tundra that my son now drives daily. He is 22 and wants to learn how to mechanic, but unfortunately not into woodworking. It just makes me happy spending time with him in the garage.

Will hopefully be able to drag all of my tools back out and get the shoe rack finished this weekend.

I’ve not used the wax yet, but I already prefer the walrus oil over the food grade mineral oil

 

I have only used the Furniture Butter. I think it is a combo of those two. You have to stir the wax in before you use it. I have used this stuff on a bunch of projects. One of the easiest finishes there is to apply and I always get great results. This is what I used on my whiskey cabinet.

I will have to order some of the others and try them out next time I do some cutting boards.
