    Hi all,

Hope you're doing well and having a great week of the fourth.

I was looking at getting on OTT done on my 2020 tacoma limited and wanted to see what y'all were rocking level wise.

Currently stuck between lite/mild and mild/medium.

I have 265/70/R17s Toyo Open country ATIIIs and might upgrade to 285s when I run all the tread off these.

Bonus if you have a setting you get the tuner turn off all together.

TL/DR What OTT setting you recommend?

The tuner will let you try out the combos, if you desire.

I did Mild and Medium and couldn’t be happier.

Originally wanted to do Medium and Spicy but I took my tuner’s advice.

The option to switch between 2 profiles with the ETC button is awesome.

OTT tuned my Tacoma last weekend. Went with lite/mild and am satisfied with the results. Primary reason I went with the tune was to improve gear hunting issue not throttle response. However, throttle response with the lite/mild setting is improved over stock.

You have to try out the level of tunes, decide yourself. I got Spicy on my Tacoma, I luv it!:D

Something to thing about is your environment. Example, if you live in a rainy area, an upper level tune can be a bit much with the throttle sensitivity and you’ll constantly spin your tires at take off.

Try them out when you meet your tuner. This is great advice. I started on Lite/Mild and after 2 months thought it was a bit too lite. Switched to Mild/Med and couldn’t be happier. Just the right amount of throttle sensitivity for me. I use the ECT Medium setting when on the highway for immediate response when I want pass.

Agreed, everyone has their prefs, but kind of by definition - you've come to OTT for many reasons - one of those is the absurdly "spongy" delayed reaction throttle - it's like bad video game joystick, where you have to preplan to make any move - not exactly reactive driving. So, my take is the "light /mild" will feel a leap for you but at the same time, it's a "why bother". Most seem to prefer to really step up mild/medium or medium/spicy (leaving spicy for the not very often used ECT button). You will never give up this mod, willingly.

I have 34 inch tires on my taco and I went with medium/spicy. To me medium can feel a little on the light side, and spicy is a big step up and a little overpowered. But I'm not going to complain because all in all it's a huge upgrade to what I had before, which was KD Max v9.

As to which version you should get I had the same concerns you do. They were compounded by the fact that there was no tuner near me. If I wanted to switch I was going to have to drive a long way or wait for a couple months at least. Turner's wanted 500 for the tune. Overland Taylor tuning offered VF tuner and the files for $790. I found a laptop at Best Buy open box $190, regularly just short of $500. That's the way I decided to go and I'm not sorry, but if I had a tuner within an hour's drive I would have went that way.

What do you use each for? I’ve heard of people using medium on the freeway for more rapid throttle response. But I wanted to hear what you use them for personally.

Good to know, for me it’s especially cruise control on any hills (western wa so they’re everywhere). Did you try the mild/medium also or were content with the lite/mild?

I live in western Washington with plans to move in the next year or so to Alabama for work. I think mild/medium might be the play in that scenario just to have a good middle ground for dry and wet weather.

If it’s not too much trouble which do most customers in Florida settle on? Might be moving to Alabama (mobile) so it could be a good future proofing method to see what the area uses.

Yeah there’s two tuners here in the Seattle area about 45ish minutes to either from where I’m at. They both charge $500 for the service.

Then go do it. It's the best money you will spend on your truck. And ask them, but if you want to change they should do it no charge.

I tried medium first but the throttle was too "touchy" for my liking.

    Driving with Sport OEM 265/65/R17s.

Have had Mild Drive/Spicy ECT for over 2 years and love it!

Got the TRD Lift (2" front with 1" block in the rear) and will upgrade to bigger wheel/tire set up at 60K miles...currently at 36K.

Get the advice of your tuner based on your requirements.
