Guys... I feel guilty. Several people have posted about deaths and injuries and illnesses, and I just don't feel comfortable commenting on that crap. I can't "like" it, but if I did it would be in sympathy and support. But I just don't feel like handing out condolences and focusing on the **it side of life. I can talk about illness in terms of getting well or solutions, but the rest is morbid... at least for me. So I hope you will understand my silence. I wish you all well, but from now on it's gonna be silently.

He's around my age 77 or 78, agree that it could be totally unrelated.

Fully understood Travlr, unfortunately it's something that we all have to deal with at some point in our lives.

Water heater, softener, furnace, etc. upgraded/ replaced yesterday. Spent most of the day watching, answering questions, helping where I could. I was dreading it, but it had to be done, and I didn't want it to become an emergency. Glad we bit the bullet, before it got out of hand. Also, glad my go-to hvac people have cleaned house, and hired some competent professionals. We both slept better last night.

At our age 67 , it starts to happen, still doesn’t make it any easier. I don’t have a problem with y’all venting / grieving on here.

Have a slice of bread with breakfast or lunch. Give your body a chance to process, burn off, the carbs.

Carl, I hope your friend is receiving VA benefits. It is a pretty easy process to apply and be approved.

Good morning. @woodtickgreg and others , TY for the information. I can no longer do this type of work at 75 YO. Met with the first company yesterday and a 2 stage Carrier solution is right at 18 K with discounts. The company has outstanding reviews on Google and Yelp. Right at 600 reviews with a 5 star rating. Going with this company would mean changing service companies. We will be meeting with 3 more companies this coming week and make a decision by July 7th. The market is crazy up so we took the money out of an IRA yesterday.

Today is a walk in the AM then recycle electronics. Son has a gig in Annapolis so I am on my own in the afternoon to early evening. Making sausage and peppers for dinner. Will probably do some more HVAC research and finish watching a series on HULU. All in all an easy day.

Sorry to hear of your friends health !!

Yes alot of Military Veteran's have health issues from prior Miltary service . Alot the health issues are related to chemical exposure . I was in the Military in the early 1980's and I was diagnosed 7 yrs ago with Parkinson's disease . I used aircraft cleaning solvent to clean firearms in my Armory

That cleaning solution I used had TCE and PCE solvents in it . These solvents were widely used in the Military back then . Also my Armory was located near a burn pit that the bases crash crew practiced and trained putting out aircraft fires . And breathing the thick black smoke from these burn pits wasn't healthy

Another health scare that many Marines at my old duty station were exposed to was a contaminated water supply . The contaminated water affected veterans from 1945 to 1989 this is the same contamination that closed down MCB Camp Lejeune

    Great points

My first real job at 22 right out of college I worked in the lab for Inland Specialty Chemical. We sold all sorts of solvent blends and aircraft paint strippers and the like. Also chemicals for the printed circuit board industry back when boards were all USA made. Any man the stuff I got on me back then, not good. I wonder if it contributed to my diabetes and liver function. I know this is a bit depressing but all we can do is be healthy now, be active and soldier on.

TCE or PCE exposure would stain exposed skin and destroy your Military BDU's . Even the protective gloves I had didn't last long as the solvents destroyed them

    That too.

But yeah I would never hit a woman. I'm weak in that area. There might be a life and death scenario, but I can't think of one.

Bad storms last night. We were power out when we went to bed, storms raging. Generator automatically picked up the slack, still running when we went to bed. All quiet this morning, power back on sometime during the night. I'll check the propane tank this morning. It was about 75% full before the storm. That's plenty. We live out. Don't want to be caught without power ever again. We slept like a baby, knowing we had 100% reliable, automatic power backup. We're all-electric. Getting older every day, so very important. All the houses close enough to see, were dark. A realtor friend says backup power is money in the bank.

Looks like a nicely done pork steak.

Good morning. I was all set to do a chicken on the new rotisserie today then the wife texted me that we are going out to dinner tonight. Another day in the brine will not hurt the chicken.
