I am looking for bigger more pronounced red tow hooks for my black SR5. The standard that most people seem to use are a bit under whelming. Has anyone tried these Tacoma hooks. Im sure they would need a little modification, like drilling a new hole location and longer bolts. Am I crazy for thinking this?

Have you seen these? A bit pricey but they are nice.

Yes, but these for a Tundra are less than half the price and are almost twice as big. Im just afraid they might look too big, 9" long.

Might have to do some measuring on the truck to see how big it would be. Maybe make a cardboard template for a visual

I installed the Bonobo Front Recovery Hooks and they are not small. They are quite a beefy real quality product and look great on my Pro. I would say that these are much stronger than the Tacoma mounts they are using on the truck to mount these. This is not a photo of my truck, but this is how they look.

I have the Bonobo product on my truck. But I was told in no uncertain terms the Toyota product was superior because they were made from steel.

In my opinion, the main purpose of such front hooks on a 4g Tacoma is for looks, tiedowns, or just for towing on level ground. The weak point is the mount, not the hook itself on the 4g Tacoma. As far as the Bonobo, I can't imagine a situation where the hook failed before the mounting point itself. They are a really solid hunk of 6061 billet aluminum and boasts an impressive 11,000 lbs. working load limit. They are not cheaper than most steel hooks, and are a handsome design and look.

Good feature write up for steel vs aluminum Recovery Points:

I bought a pair of these from Amazon and drilled them out to fit my 2024 Tacoma Pro. They look awesome!

Really??? You are who I've been looking for. Do you have any pics?

The Amazon link didn't bring me to what you purchased. Can you post a screen shot?

I would love to see a picture of these larger Tundra hooks, if anyone has them.

Well these were supposed to be delivered yesterday but I received a cancelation due to supply issues. I will try to source another supplier. I think with a little modification they will offer a bold look.

I'm the resident Forest Gump around these parts so this may be a stoopid thought....
The hooks look beefy as hell. I'm worried about the bolts and the part of the truck that it bolts to. Can that part of the frame take the stress w/o the additional support?

Well, I'm 99% on road these days. Bt will use for the occasional pull a Chevy out of a snow bank sutuation.

I recieved these today from Amazon $79. They seem well made and almost twice the size of the Toyotas. I mounted them with only one bolt, I need to drill an additional hole to attach them correctly, they look amazing. I might even mount them forward and use the spacer that came with them to show them off more. They were sold as rear hooks for a Bronco.

Are you drilling that additional hole(s) in the tow hook or your frame?

I also ordered these and drilled the extra hole in the hook itself and then mounted them to the frame. I used the spacer so they show more. They look great!
