Even the optional Harman Kardon that I had on my 2017 WRX was pretty bad haha

Michelins next, if I can recommend something-- PS5S is perfect for these cars

They haven't released the 5 for my size yet. I had the PSS on my old MY06, but I'm actually considering going with a UHP all-season like the ubiquitous Conti DWS06 simply because fall mornings drop into the less fun area temperature wise and I don't necessarily intend to drive this thing at 10/10s. The other issue is that I don't have a spare set of storage wheels / tires like I have had for other cars for the winter. I'm reluctant even with the OEM tires to store the car sitting on the wheels as I know some compounds don't love being stored below 45°F but I currently don't have a second set of wheels / tires to store it on like I did with my Vette.

Don't you run full winters on the truck? Why not do full summers and full winters for the STI? Cheap insurance...

The STi will be stored for the winter. I had summers on the Vette and some of the October drives to work got a bit exciting in ways I didn’t want it to be exciting at 6 AM. Maybe I will suck it up and do summers, but for how spirited I intend to drive it I don’t need that last 0.05gs either.

I do run Hakkas on the Tacoma in the winter.

Not in the garage yet but I'm halfway home from picking it up in AL...2016 Sprinter 2500 4x4 with the 3.0 turbo diesel. I'm sleeping in the back on a cot and hoping to make it home before I end up in limp mode and limited to 5mph because it has a DEF/SCN error. I'm 1,400 miles from home with 8 starts remaining before limp mode. Previously owner was a diesel mechanic and I'm guessing he cleared the codes before listing it with a broker to sell.

    :annoyed:

Plan is to fix it and build it out for skiing snd towing our trailer on some longer road trips with a bit more comfort than the Tacoma has. Once I get this DEF issue sorted it'll go to fieldvan (former sportsmobile guys) for a pop top with a bunk. Interior will be modular with 2nd row captains chairs and a bench-bed in the back. I'll wire it up to be able to plug my fridge in which should be easy since it already has a dual battery setup to operate a wheelchair lift.

I've been looking for one of these for a while, but it had to be a base model and 6 speed manual. Was recently traded in to a dealer I use.

2019 with 94K miles with a replacement engine and turbo last year. Probably not the best thing I could have bought, but it checked the boxes.

Yes, it has the STI wang and fin things on the roof and some 18" wheels over the 17"s. It need a full exterior detail badly. The exhaust tips aren't even chrome anymore.

I'm fully aware the FA20T doesn't have the best track record. I don't plan on any mods and don't plan on beating on it. Just something fun to drive in the summer.

Nice, congrats! I didn't hate the FA20T as much as everyone else seems to have. Managed to be plenty quick for me in daily driving (and AutoX) and I could swing 30 MPG on the highway when parking it in 6th at 70 MPH.

    Fun!

Let me know if you want some ideas of decent quality of life upgrades that don't cost a fortune. I've been working through some with mine.

I know from what it looks like they (Subaru dealer local to me) threw a used engine in it, but turbo is new. So really into the unknown. Peeking into the oil cap the inside looks really clean so crossing my fingers it was maintained. I plan on doing 3K oil changes with a Euro 0w40. Also gotta figure out how to get it on 4 jackstands to change the front/rear diff and transmission oil. That looks sketchy

So far I really like it though. It's super basic, which I like. The clutch is taking some getting used to. It's an on-off switch. Yes, I've stalled it a couple times :anonymous:

I have dipped into the power a little bit, but really nothing above 4K RPM's. It's already getting illegal speeds by then.

The flip down cover that covers the fuse panel was a little pocket in the Japanese market. Subispeed sells them for $10.

The Japanese market made an armrest extension that raises the armrest up to roughly the height of the Tacoma one. I paid just about $160 for mine and it dramatically changed the feel of the interior.

The trunk liner costs about $35 new and they make a cover for the HVAC fan off a Forester that quiets down the fan noise for about $45.

Nothing adds power but it makes the car a lot more functional.

I love the sti but have always hated the clutch pedal. Can drive Honda, Jeep, Toyota & bmw manuals all day but the Subaru sti clutch makes me look like a new driver whenever I’m in one

still want a STI hatch someday

To be fair, you do get used to it.

Then, of course, you look like you've never driven a manual when you drive anything else. When Subaru did the refresh of the base non-STI GR cars to add power in 2009 they partnered with the video game DIRT 2 and would offer you a free copy of the game for test driving a car. I was in for service and had the voucher and just asked for them to sign whatever paperwork and not to worry about the test drive. They let me take out a 2011 and I promptly stalled it more than once in the test drive.

I spent last weekend driving only the STI and not my Tacoma. When I got into my truck to go to work I thought the clutch was broken.
