Unlike Centralia, which has a public road running directly through it, Concrete City requires you to park your vehicle and go on a bit of a hike; I saw a Jeep Wrangler full of people braving the trail as I was leaving, but I wasn't about to bring a 2WD Tacoma up there...

 

I did my research before committing to the trip, and determined that the area was opened to the public, albeit on an "enter at your own risk" basis. Most people just park along the side of the road near the trail, as seen here...

 

There's my truck...

 

It would not be a ghost town without the obligatory graffiti...

 

The trail got wider and much more passable the closer we got to the buildings, but there's still no way in hell I was going to bring my truck back there...

 

This is about where Amanda got fed up and headed back to the truck to relax with the A/C cranked; Amanda was pissed for a number of reasons...

• It was hot
• There were lots of bugs
• There was a lot more walking than she expected
• She was worried that I was going to fuck up my knee

 

I was just so tired last night that I decided to wait until today to post the remaining pictures from Concrete City. I was a bit limited in where I could go because I am still recovering from knee surgery, and honestly, I shouldn't have gone as far back as I did...



I met a guy with a metal detector who was looking for treasure and seemed quite familiar with the area; I told him about my knee surgery, and he told me exactly how to get easier access to the old buildings...

 

The guy with the metal detector told me that it was best to come in the spring before the trees grew in, as it would be easier to see all of the buildings. Believe it or not, there are even more buildings behind the trees across that clearing...
