Hello everyone. Just bought a 2023 Tacoma TSS and looking to do a few minor upgrades. It came with the standard headlights and I’m looking to upgrade to the black headlights with the “L” shaped DRL LEDs. I have seen a few posts about this but nothing about how to wire the new headlight. I believe it has an extra wire for the LED DRL. Can someone explain had to wire it? Do I need a conversion harness? This is a photo I found on this forum of what I’m looking to do. Thank you.
    This is what I have:

@Jaybird2023 Since you have a 2023, I am betting you have AUTO low beams? On the headlight stalk, does it say "DRL OFF^AUTO^parking symbol^low beams symbol" or does it say "OFF^DRL^parking symbol^low beams symbol"? That can determine what your options are.

    This and that
What do you do?, bake that thing at like 200 Fahrenheit, rip it apart, paint it, glue it back together.

I just was messing with my overhead console that I ripped apart and glued back together, twice, once with a meso 4 switch, now it’s the 6 switches. Had to get another console and swap it out, glue is not not preferred artistic medium.

Dang, you’re a little more limited with that option. We can still work with it though. The biggest problem you have is right now your DRL and turn signal share a single wire (and bulb). You have to separate those two if you want it to look like it came with those LED DRL lights. That requires some hardware to do. This is the version for doing it to convert to the full LED lights, but it is the same concept (and same hardware): https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...esses-v2-most-current-thread-dec-2023.819431/
I still make the version you’d need, the plugs are just different and there is an extra wire. It is $200 shipped as well.
If you didn’t want to go that route, you can still use the headlights with the “L” shaped DRL by feeding the the DRL with a fuse tap and still using the existing circuit for the turns. The disadvantage of this way is you will still have amber DRLs and the “L” DRL will be on whenever the truck is running. They won’t dim with the low beams like they are supposed to. If you want to do that, you can do a modified version of this and use the low beam to trigger a relay and break the DRL circuit. Does that make any sense?

I will probably go with the new harness you make. Is it just a simple harness that connects my existing wiring to the new headlight wiring? Does the harness you sell come with instructions or the needed hardware? Thank you for your help. I’ve looked in the other forums and it seems like most of what I find is the full led conversion which im not looking to do.

One last question, all the info in the link, will I need all of that for the headlights I want or is all of that for the full leds?

That link is for the full LEDs, but the version you need is pretty close to the same. It has the same timers and relays, it’s just the plugs that are different. The version you need will still be fully plug and play, no splicing needed. It will come with all the needed hardware and everything you need except for the headlights. I haven’t made a specific thread for the halogen conversions, but they are really straight forward, and I do my own tech support, so I’ll be available when you do the install. I haven’t had one yet that went unsolved, even if I had custom make something to make it work.

Oh, sorry, I may not have actually answered your question: you will get the same amount of stuff. You will still use the resistors as well

Thank you for all the info. Had no idea there was going to be that much stuff involved. I figured by getting another halogen light the wiring difference would be minimal. I was looking at the OEM 81150-04280 and 81110-04280. If you want new that’s big $$. Maybe I can find some used ones in good condition. How do you feel about a CAPA version?
