I’m trying to buy some fairly plain looking black rims for my stock 23 Tacoma with no lift. The tire shop keeps saying the rims that they’ve been getting haven’t been clearing the calipers and they keep having to send them back. Are there a particular rim brand that works best with this generation Tacoma? I think they’ve already ordered three different rims and say that each time they don’t fit

There are lots of rims that work. What size rims are you trying to get?

The TRD Pro wheels in black look nice. There are also the “beadlock” TRD wheels that look nice.

You my friend need a New tire shop… once, twice, thrice. Unacceptable my summer set TRD Pro wheels & Winter set fifteen52. Supper happy with both.

I'm looking at sticking with 16 inch rims and doing 265/70 wranglers. I love the look of that Method, I just called up there and asked if they can look at those. Has anyone else heard of this caliper rubbing issue ? it sounds like they have had issues with other tacomas before.

Honestly, it sounded like they ordered 15” rims that will definitely rub on the caliper.

Though, years ago, before I knew better… almost 20 years ago, I had ordered a set of wheels for my 2nd Gen that rubber on part of the caliper. Just needed a touch of grinding to fix it but I was expecting it.

If by plain you are trying to use steel wheels, then MOST 16" steel wheels dont work on these calipers... MOST aluminum aftermarket wheels should clear fine, as they always seem to be 16x8 et0 or around those specs.

Your answer is to order some SCS F5s and have a 'plain' lightweight beautiful wheel.

I went with 70's but otherwise the same. Shop said the 75's took it over some 3% margin that may affect the abs, I didnt know if this was a thing but for the sake of getting my truck back I just told them 265/70 16..If you have a wheel pic would you mind sending ?

The Dealer put mine on in Seattle had no problems with it. The Dealer in Alaska puts giant tires on at Dealer to try’n sell trucks. & I don’t have the Method’s just showing you how not to deal with them (tire shop). I ordered mine From fifteen52 had droped shipped to expediter to be put on Airplane & sent to Alaska. There options. Good luck. & waiting for pic’s

Can you post a pic of the 1552 showing the full truck like the first and maybe a front view too?

Which tire (& rim) size are you running on the 1552?

    I’ll probably stay on 16”.
    -thanks!

I think I like the way they look, that plain old OG steel rim. Not sure on which color would look best, probably black.

What are my options if I want to stay as close to the stock specs as possible?

I’m running 255/85/16 and will probably stay on that.
(roughly 2” lift with Fox perf elites, deaver u402, accutune uca’s)
