Yes but I think the point is if that is one of their top credentials then one can tell they have not progressed professionally very far. Kind of gives the image of a Valley Girl, fer sure.

Lots of negative judgement for someone who has read literally zero of the person’s work.

No. I saw CR for what it was back in 1980 when they trashed the Trans Am. Their complete reasoning for why you should not buy it? The body style has been around for a while. No talk of any elements that someone in the market for a sports/performance car would be interested in. Just the "how does this washer and dryer complement my laundry room" type of critique. So I never paid any attention to car reviews from CR from then on.

True, but any moron can do the cupholder works and so on thing, no one needs to have ANY skills whatsoever to critique those. A decent test drive can give you more info then she ever could on the mall cruiser scene and curb toys. I could do a blog on how to properly place ducks on jeeps and I don't even own one.

    Sumbitch!

They must have not have been a Burt Reynolds fan or got stood up by Sally Field to not like a Trans Am that much.

I agree. I owned a 1976 Trans Am 455ci manual trans at the time.

Dude, these folks on TW that won't even go through a automated car wash. They probably rub 'em down with diapers. I think the current demographic for the Tacoma is no longer the blue collar working man. The current folks want heated seats, 14"effing screen, auto climate control, 45 cup holders, HUD's, etc... They are now older or city folk who like the extra nanny and tech add ons.

You just described the features of a new ranger and most every other truck in the category. But you single out the tacoma for having them? All trucks have moved functionally towards creature comforts. As a fellow crotchety older dude (sorry, making assumptions about you, perhaps I'm wrong) I'm all in for arguments in favor of preserving a luddite perspective. But they apply across the field for all new trucks. I mean, Ford put out an all electric before Toyota. Are you suggesting the lightning is the new blue collar working man's workhorse?

If by some miracle regulations were terminated and someone decided to make a clone of a 1974 Chevy pickup, standard cab with a 350 engine, AM radio and roll up windows, I'd be all over it.

You haven’t read any of this person’s work, though.

So it’s weird to say a test drive could give you more “than she ever could.”

It was a Consumer Reports listing, I only read what she wrote when I started the thread, I don't think she even gave any opinions other than it was a surprise to see where the Tacoma ranked. I don't know why her work would be evaluated unless she wrote the CR report. The report was pick up truck related why not post it to the site? Maybe fxntime is debating something she wrote outside of the CR report.

I look at it as this is what they have to say. What is your take? People who own and drive the 4G may agree or disagree with what CR says. until I drive a 4G I haven't formed an opinion either way. I doubt if Toyota is losing Tacoma s as les based on this report.

I think CR might have nailed it when it comes to what people are complaining about, even if it's not anything to complain about. The more complaints the lower the score.

The rest falls on Toyota to fix what the consumers are complaining about if they want a better score. I don't use the systems that get the most complaints that much to begin with so the scoring isn't important to me. I saw the CR scoring and it fell inline with what I was saying if any truck gets more complaints the worse it will rank.

“TBSM recall” - nope, no such thing for the 4G.

I had one of those in high school around 1982! Got 8 MPG, was gutless, and was rusting out almost everywhere. But I still enjoyed it :)

It's been discussed here by owners maybe it's called something else? If they are wrong than they are dumb, I'm not going to bother fact checking a recall on a truck I don't drive so if I'm spreading misinformation I'm not concerned.

I forgot to mention the tophat TSB, and manual transmission TSB.
