In a survival situation a good knife/tool is needed to increase the chances of survival,so what kind of knives do you recommend?
    Thanks

Define 'survival'? What's the scenario? FWIW a Leatherman Signal lives in my pocket most of the year, I mainly take it out to open boxes and use the screwdriver bit, occasionally pound stakes with the hammer end when camping, and the fire making bits are basically a pocket fidget or to show kids how to light fires. Whistle's only been blown as a demo, and the awl and can opener have never been used.

Not clear exactly what you are looking for. Are you looking for EDC (Every Day Carry) , are you looking for something to carry in the woods/wilderness or?? What kind of survival situation? Want something to carry in your pocket or an 18” hunting knife on your belt?
As far as tools get yourself a multi tool like a Leatherman which also has a knife blade.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
I always have a Leatherman/Gerber or some multitool in the truck along with a dedicated console knife that is decent but less than $50 in case I want to do something stupid that I would not want to subject a nicer knife too. Also it is a good option if one of my kids is like "dad, can I use your knife?". This is teenage shorthand for this will never be seen again, the tip is getting broken off because it has become a screwdriver or how in the fuck did you bend the blade? Oh you needed a pry bar.
    EDC or in my pocket:

If on a tighter budget you can find many quality knives for less than $100. Kershaw makes some decent ones. I like these:

Keep in mind when looking at the manufacture sites that a better deal can almost always be had buying from a 3rd party. Beware of deals that are to good to be true as knives are often counterfeited. Places like SMKW is a reputable dealer where you can find some deals. Be careful with Amazon. Some legit dealers there but many fakes also. https://smkw.com/knives/folding-knives

Kabar pilot survival knife or the USMC offers a pretty decent knife at an affordable price. OKC went outta business but you can still find them on eBay or leftovers on some websites. Kershaw, Spyderco or Buck for decent mid priced folders. Benchmade if you wanna spend a bit more. Lots of options in the knife world and like modifying your truck they get addicting and have a vast range in price.

Here’s the knife thread for more inspiration

Go to ebay, type U.S. Bayonet. Find something you like and when you get it put a good edge on it. You will be hard pressed to break it.

I’m always hesitant about to respond to a new member that is asking a question that is a little off. Often a troll or a bot. Since the op has been a member since 2024 I thought maybe he’s legit. Now that I looked a a couple posts I see he/it is a bot or whatever.

I’m not real tech savvy, what does a bot gain from doing this out of curiosity?

The mods are bots and life is a simulation! Neo was not the one. It was Mr. Smith!

Yes but only in the seventh dimension ruled by the reincarnation of Neo known as the One. Just thought I’d clarify the unclarifiable to make it clear as mud:transformer::smokertransformer:

Brother, there’s only one knife you need; the Icon drop point knife at harbor freight. It’s a little unobtanium at times, because of how fast it sells out, but it’s honestly the best knife I’ve ever EDC’d.

I agree nice knife but their Gordon 2.9 inch blade is as good (my opinion) and is only $10. I just got another one yesterday, it’s sweet for $10.
