    Our taxes not bad right here . The assessor used to live a few doors down from me . I think that’s why the taxes ain’t bad on my stretch of road . Go over the hill 1-2 miles to the lake and forget it . $35-70K for taxes . Multi Million dollar homes . Some people I know in a 10-15 mile radius from me pay anywhere from $3500-16000 in taxes . :anonymous:Just under $2k for me :anonymous:got .97 of an acre . 9 homes on my stretch here and every one else pays double what I pay because they all have just over an acre of property.:notsure:

    My ex and I lived in Stony Brook (Long Island) from 2013 - 2016 while I was going to school. We rented a house. Early on, I assumed that after I graduated, I would look for a job in that same area, and so we were curious to get familiar with the ins and outs of home ownership in the area, and had a discussion with the Realtor that helped us find our rental. Stony Brook is a fairly $$$ area, but further east on LI, it's much more rural and cheaper. Except for the Hampton's areas. When i asked how property taxes worked in NY, our Realtor said it's a crapshoot, and entirely dependent on exactly where you buy. She told us she's sold, or knew of homes on LI that had taxes anywhere from upper $20K - upper $60K per year. I almost shit myself at that. Property taxes higher than the mortgage?????? Dayum!!!!!! Needless to say, in the end, I moved back to northern CA after I found out I was unable to get student loans to finish school, and my marriage crashed and burned.

    My first trip to NYC was through the heart of Brooklyn in a 26' Penskee truck. Holy fuck dude, never again. Next day I had to go to Long Island. I better pre-planned that trip and it wasn't so bad minus the traffic on 495. I used the brute size of the thing to "push" people out of the way :rofl:
