I posted this at a different forum but I’ve noticed that the factory Rigid fog lights appear to be peeling off. The layer that’s peeling appears more clear than the left over layer. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this just a normal layer that should come off or should I bring it in to the dealership?

Rigid fog lights? They look aftermarket. Dealer may have installed them and sold as oem. The oem fog lights are position inset (e.g. not flush to the bumper as displayed on your picture)

not sure what you're talking about. mine look the same as his and were definitely not installed by a dealer. also, mine are just dirty, not peeling.

@Tacowrench, the OP drives a Trailhunter and his RIGID fogs are factory installed.

Looks like the UV-blocking layer is delaminating. Warranty 'em.

Almost looks like it could be just a clear protective film that wasnt removed as was mentioned but hard to tell from the pic if its an external film that just needs to be peeled off.....
Ide start there, if not, its time to visit the dealer & get some new lights.

yeah went to the dealership today and I’ll have to get new lights. They agree that it’s delaminating.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the OE Toyota fog lamps are probably better quality than the OE Rigid fog lamps. This is the 1st and only complaint I've seen so far.

So your saying Toyota downgraded the fog lamps on their halo trims?

That's what I'm saying. I know the lights have either a white or yellow setting that the Toyota lamps do not have. The halo trim lights could be inferior as far as build quality and material go. This is the one and only example of a reported issue from any 4G foglight.

    Edit

Just looking at the regular lamps compared to the Rigid lamps the regular ones look like they are a better product.

Once you actually take the bumper off & get your hands on the stock tacoma fogs, theyre chincy as all get out....

That being said, Rigids dont look like anything special either....

But your judging the rigids strictly on visual appearance & cant comment on performance & light output so you truly have no idea....

DO you really think theyre going to install a light from a name brand & call it an upgrade if it truly isnt any brighter than stock?

I didn't mention the optics which isn't in question here. An optics comparison would settle that, OEM fogs aren't usually that great. The Rigids are a Toyota spec OEM product With Rigid branding on them. After market Rigid lights are a different product, the halo truck lights main feature is the selectable light color. It does sound like the lens isn't holding up as well as the Toyota fog lights.

3G head better LED headlighs than the 4G it's not like every so called upgrade is in fact an upgrade. I have said before that if I was upgrading the fogs on a 4G I'd go with the Toyota Rigid fogs. Sounds like the lights could use a new lens design.

I wanted to spec them on my 2025 TRD Sport Premium but for some reason I was skeptical. For a $680 upgrade I'd be pretty pissed if that happened to me. Hoping you guys have better luck in the future.
