    not at all.

pre-covid, i never cared much for large groups. post-covid, i find large gatherings really irritating...

i don't really do much on the 4th any more. all the nephews are too young to be doing the fireworks shenanigans we did as kids, so i usually just grab a chair and a drink and sit in my driveway and watch everyone else blow up their money.

so $4-5k, plus another $1k for shipping, and that deck couldn't have been less than another $2-4k.

    cali people are weird.

last one i worked at, they flew a set-designer guy out to the midwest to custom-make their bathtub. it went as well as one can imagine a sets designer needing to make a functional plumbing fixture that needs to last beyond a year of a movie production. nice people, but just a very skewed/twisted perspective on the world in general.

Text from my kid last night:

"Can I get the insurance card? Some idiot hit me."

    :annoyed:

I thought this looked like his front quarter panel, hood and windshield but he said it's the rear quarter and back driver's side door.

    IMG_6961.jpg

His car was parked in the lot at his apartment, he wasn't even in it. Got hit by an F-150. At least they have insurance and hunted him down.

    Partially his fault.
    He was there.
At least that’s what the insurance told me when I got hit years ago.

Long time ago my wife was driving to work, and got into an accident. The gentleman who she hit was trying to go straight across the street she was driving on. Wife was on a major road that went straight through, and he was on a side street with stop signs. His insurance said, well he made it across 60% of the lanes and my wife didn't do enough to avoid it, so it's 40% her fault. Our insurance said nope, that's not how this works, we'll take care of them for you.

Why is it when you need a drill bit to cut on size, it cuts over and when you need one to cut over, it cuts to size?

Print calls for a hole to be .380", just clearance for 3/8" rod.

Drilled one piece with a W drill (.386") and it cut to .400"

Tried a V drill (.377") and it cut.................. .377"

.377 is too tight because the pieces get welded on a door.
