You should get a job at Toyota. All you do here is sell the 4G.

I talk about a truck I like enough to buy and am not afraid to disagree with foolish opinions. If that makes me a shill in your eyes, I don’t really care

but it does bring up the question, why do you spend your time denigrating it?

I think it was Crispy that said something 3Gs and specifically 21s that happened to be the same time I remembered to check june sales numbers. Why not check the 21 nunbers while at it, more trucks sold in June of 21 than June 25 why not rib the guy? For fun, I think most of you have 2024 trucks not 25s or 21s 2024 wasn't even mentioned. Then I thought what the 2021 truck market was like as I remembered it.

    May 2025 4G sales - 26,504
    May 2022 3G sales - 16,285

26,504 is the most Tacomas sold for the month of May on record.
Third highest monthly sales amount since Jan 2016.

Look, I can cherry-pick numbers too!

more specifically “why not rib the guy? For fun” - indicating he gets his jollies by fking with random internet strangers.

In other words, a troll, not worthy of any further recognition

    Follow the thread.

Edit 2021 was also a terrible time to buy a vehicle.

If you look at all other car manufacturers, prices have drastically increased across the board. It’s not just Toyota.

Wow you guys are really goofy.

    1. If you’ve got the funds and think a 4th gen taco is worth your ownership then you buy it. End of story.

    2. for the people that think it’s too expensive go enjoy life elsewhere.

Sure, that’s what happens when we get over 25% inflation in the past five years.

Previous five year period saw a little less than 8% total inflation.

Cars have outpaced other things in terms of their price hikes, but I am not sure why this longstanding thread is still going, really. Trucks are expensive. Not getting cheaper.

I mean, those of us that bought 4Gs either like them or traded them back in for something else. I haven't heard many of the latter, but anyone that wants a new Tacoma pretty has to buy the 4G, so that alone will make it successful and people are voting with their hard-earned (devalued) dollars.

No regrets, here, just the same common niggling wishlist for a bigger fuel tank, driver-side A-pillar grab handle, driver seat position memory -- but those are small disappointments, not regret.

    So, when does this end?

I mean as long as people are throwing their money into autos, doing crazy finances of 72 months or longer to make their monthly payments work, car manufacturers are going to continue to try to improve and increase their car prices. IMHO I agree to a certain extent that cars and trucks purchase value has skyrocketed with little to no investment value after the initial sells. Most luxury cars (BMW MERCEDES AUDI) values tank up to 30 to 40% after first year of ownership.

Yeah, the 72-month financings are a huge trap for the unwary, although I don't know what the stats would show as to the proportion of folks that avail themselves of it.

But inasmuch as this thread is about regrets, I don't think anyone can regret depreciation (inasmuch as they knew they'd have to suffer it).

Fair. Maybe we should start that thread now. "Honest Talk: Does the 5G suck compared to all other Gs?"

Generally yes, but Toyota managed to keep Tacoma deliveries stable through mid-2021. The big hit on Tacoma deliveries comes late 2021 through early 2022. https://www.goodcarbadcar.net/toyota-tacoma-sales-figures/

June of 2021 was the fifth best sales month ever for Tacomas.
