I installed the Redlines. They work perfectly and raise the hood on their own. Exactly what I was looking for.

I have seen where people were saying the rivets are hard to install. The reason it takes more force to pop them is they are made of steel, not like common aluminium rivets.

Tip: I used a clamp on the handle of the rivet tool. Made it a lot easier.

Great idea never thought of that one lol.I hope you painted or greased the hole before installing your rivets to protect it for future corrosion. I did use some spray on undercoating Krown.

Yes, of course! I also touched up the small scratches on the rivets with a black paint pen. :)

43 lbs is way too low a force for the 3rd Gen hoods. No wonder they don't work. There are many sellers on Amazon who copy our and Redline's designs, in many cases very poorly. I have a side by side comparison photo of our hardware and theirs, it's quite entertaining.

Purchased Toyota Certified, with Vijay bumpers, additional lights, and Falken Wildpeaks on Fuel rims. Prev owner apparently painted the grill.

Get the Spikers and be done. No bone in it for me but after having RedLines and Spikers, I say the Spikers are a better hood strut.

You had both and if the Spikers did not do your thing then you would of praised the Red lines its a 50 50 win or lose depending on your experience . I have the Redlines are the best for me.

Please don't try and speak for me as I never said anything as such. Used RedLines on numerous vehicles and tried Spikers. RedLines are ok but not on the level of the Spikers, it's just as simple as that. I'm happy they do well for you, and I still have them on a few rides which are doing well for me. The Spikers are just a better quality as I speak from using both products.

I've got the Redlines too and very happy with my decision.

Doesn’t matter what brand you get…I’m talking about everyone when I say, “you.”

As long as it works for individual buying/installing, what difference does it make?

That’s a rhetorical question, btw. Lol

Bolt on Sokietech struts from Amazon have worked great on four 3rd gen sport Tacomas that I have owned over the years. Inexpensive, reliable, easy to install and keeps the hood open.

it is just a hood strut and not a turbo. No need to over engineer or overpay.

I cant get past why you have owned four 3rd gens "over the years." 2016 to 2025 is a new truck every 2.25 years? WTF.

Correct. 2016 was bought back after 4 months and the other sports attain about 150K miles in 18-24 months. I am also addicted to a new car smell!
