    Good morning everybody

@vssman is right Andy, you need your ham license so you can talk to random strangers while bouncing off rocks in the desert

I don’t have a HF rig mounted in the truck so I haven’t talked to foreign countries while wheeling but I have when set up camping with a wire thrown up in a tree.

Technician and General were pretty easy, Extra class made my head hurt! The electrical theory and components were difficult for me. I’m not building or repairing my own radios so that stuff just wasn’t clicking with me. I did push through it and got the Extra ticket.

I have an emergency radio I keep in the truck, am , fm , emergency weather. I was listening to am radio the other day, hard to find a station anymore. The ham radio thing sounds fun, another rabbit hole for me to go in.:DI Flyfish , that’s a rabbit hole with no bottom

    Morning all

At the time I was eager to get it but a life event changed that(nothing to do with MermAndy). I had already bought a 25w ham for the truck, dual band gmrs uhf/vhf and a few antennas and had the practice test down.
Now i just don't have the urge at the moment.

The repeaters allow you to make phone calls, which is nice in the desert.

Now I’m sweating and if I clean up again, I’ll dirty the clean bathroom (cleaned yesterday). Maybe I should go to the neighbor across the street and jump in their in-ground pool with a bar of soap. They told me “anytime to just jump in”

Glad you had a great time. I have fished the Gunnison. But not by floating, just from the shore. The river was running high though so I didn’t have much success. There were multiple boats that went by while I was there…looked fun. I get a little anxious in big water though. Bad experience as a stupid teen has unfortunately caused that. It would be fun to get together. Next year we planned on meeting brother and sister in law in Pocatello and driving through Yellowstone and then continuing through Wyoming then into Colorado. But now the wife is talking about cruises to Alaska, so we will see.

Let it fly! She doesn’t come back until 11pm or 12am tonight. I won’t tell.

Oh, just one more thing about HAM radio… you don’t want to talk to grumpy old men?
