Financially you'll be better off to sell your Pre-Runner and buy a 4x4. If you can do the work yourself, you might break even on the costs. But to pay someone to do all of the work is going to be expensive.

Do not waste your time with this train of thought. You will invest more than the trucks value. No one will want to buy it if you decide to sell because they won’t want to deal with whatever issues might come up. You will have issues converting this. Sell the pre runner and buy a 4x4 or live with what you have. If you are asking this question you don’t have the skillset. Paying a shop to do it would be a moronic option.

Thissss^^^^ is incorrect. Feel free to shoot me a DM. I did it all by myself with basic tools, a welder to modify your crossmember(I can help with that) and a borrowed transmission jack. And yes, this is a good idea to DIY. I would have never allow anyone to touch my truck since this requires attention to detail.

If you can do it yourself, source all the parts and have the time to do it then yes it may make sense. If you have to pay to have it done then the cost may not be worth it and selling and getting another truck may make more sense.

And what will you do if the truck is in an accident and your insurance company says your 2wd truck is worth less to fix and doesn’t pay you out anything… and you have nothing to “prove” any extra value when adding the 4wd conversion?

Yup, some people consider that a problem. I don’t plan on selling my truck or plan to destroy it. My truck is paid for , I don’t owe shit to the bank and my insurance is legit, so those issues do not apply to me.

Some people consider installing new tail lights a mod.

Yep. Same people who will leave a 1 star review because they had to slot a hole in some fabricated part they ordered for a 15 year old truck.

I didn’t plan on destroying a 3 month old car, but someone else did due to their negligence.

OP doesn’t have the knowledge to do it themselves and asked about having a shop do it.
Others stated that it’s cheaper to just sell the prerunner and get a 4wd.
From what little OP shared, they don’t have the desire to spend all their free time sourcing parts and then learning then doing the conversion.

You’re assuming, on his 2nd post seem to be asking for guidance since doesn’t feel confident enough(based on what he wrote). And if you lost your 3mo old truck, I’m sorry for your loss, but shit happens and I’m glad to hear you are ok enough to be part of this forum :fistbump:

There’s more ways to destroy a truck than having a traffic accident…
