Almost and decent shop can handle an evacuation and recharge. Other inspections of the systems might be weak if the don't know the product. I'd expect around $300 for that service to start.

I'd do a quick visual checking for leaks and possible restrictions in the radiator and condenser fins. If nothing is obvious an evacuation and recharge next as it is the most likely cause and a good diagnostic starting point. Once completed I would watch the pressures, mainly at idle, where most weak system issues show themselves. If high side climbing I'd likely have a weak fan clutch or too much restriction in airflow from something. There are a ton more pressure signs/indicators that mean many different things but that could take a while.

If you feel like making the voyage make an appointment at ToyAutomotive in KenCaryl and I could look at it.

Anyone in the Alma/Fairplay/Breckenridge have toyota pink coolant on them? My 3rd gen’s temp gauge got wonky on the standstill traffic on 285 yesterday and noticed the overflow was low today after a cold check.

edit: At operating temp the the reservoir is fuller, so I probably don’t need a fill.

285 killed my AC. With terrible traffic from an accident, a dog & a pregnant wife, running it in that traffic is what caused mine to die. It went fully dead in about a week. It couldn’t take the 4 hours of standstill I guess. The dealership was cheaper than anywhere else for a full compressor replacement, tensioner & clutch. It’s been awhile & prices have come up but my AC repair was $1,700

Appreciate this very much. After I look for and do obvious things and if it’s still not satisfactory, I may make the trek.

Wow! It was bad, I’m just thankful I split up the drive from Nebraska or it would have been an extra long day.

Replaced engine with gerbils for sustainability.
Anyone near Lakewood have suggestions for a nearby location I can test my front locker? Just repaired my air compressor and need to make sure it’s engaging the locker.

I currently live in NM and I am considering moving to CO in a couple years. Jefferson county most likely. What are the emissions and vehicle registrations like there? I have Secondary Air Injection on my 2013 Tacoma and I am thinking of deleting it when install URD headers. Will this show up on an emissions test there? Do they run an OBD scanner on it? Thanks.

Colorado has adopted CARB standards, but enforcement isn't universal. Only the Denver/Fort Collins metro area requires testing at the moment. I live in El Paso County, about an hour's drive south of Denver, and am not subject to testing.

I'll let someone who lives in Jefferson County speak what things are like there.

I remembered this post and went back to read it again. I have bindweed growing in my grass. This post helped me figure out what to purchase to try to combat the bindweed. I am going to try this stuff:
    IMG_6830.jpg
It has 2.4-D amine in it. I will have to wait for the temperatures to drop before applying. I will post how effective it is. Thanks for the post.

Jeffco does it. It’s Adams Arapahoe Boulder Denver Broomfield Dougco Jeffco Weld & Larimer. Whole rest of the state doesn’t have to deal with the bs. For my 2013, they just plug it in & im out in 5 mins - no mods or tunes except the UNI mod. The line however is now 2/3 hrs long. It took me 10-12:30 this year to get my emissions done. It sucks & cost $25 bucks. You’ll have to pay for a vin check too. That just went up this month to $54 bucks. Both are done at the Aircare shops. You’ll have to go if you live in those counties.

The free version is after your first time. You have to drive by the roadside meter twice a year & 60/90 days before it’s due. It’s never worked for me…

Is there a VIN check as part of the emissions process?

If you're referring to the check needed to register a vehicle with an out-of-state title... that shouldn't cost any money.

Damn. I use the website to check times and it's fairly accurate. I waited no more than 45 minutes for both the M3 and JK (separate days and facilities). Sometimes it worth taking a 30 minute drive to castle rock for the 10 minute wait time.
