Moving out of the Valley?
I LOVE to get the F out of the valley (I was born here and it’s now a f-ing rat race) but the medical retirement insurance we have makes us stay either in the Phoenix or Tucson areas. The coolest area I found was SE of Tucson/Vail area @ approx 3300 feet. It’s only 5 to 10 degrees cooler but every little bit helps.
When I was younger it was not a big deal but now it kills me. I know what many are thinking. My first full time job out of high school was cleaning out 160 plus degree steam ovens at SuperLight Block used to dry cinder block. It paid Cali. Union Wages but we were not union. Within 5 1/2 months working 50+ hours a week I save half for a brand new loaded Z28. The day I purchased it I got laid off! Then was hired back about 2 weeks later for about 2 months but no to little OT. Z28 was a total POS the wheel base was 7/8” shorter on the drivers side than the passenger side. It was a huge fight but GM ended up buying it back only because my father was close with the owner and he pulled some strings. GM wanted to give me another Z28 it was red with a manual but for some reason my insurance would have been almost double because of the trans. I told them HELL NO!
