I just picked up an 8’ fiberglass Orvis Superfine #5 weight, anxious to try it out. Also a #3 - #5 weight Battenkill reel and spare spool, the guys at Gates Ausable Lodge told me to bring it in and they will load it for me. Holy crap on a cracker is fly line expensive

I’m sitting here looking at 12 volt fridges. I’ve got a small one and a big one I need one in the middle. Maybe a 30/35 the 60 I have is absolute overkill I could have loaded it once on this trip almost. The only time I took it out of the trunk was at Budge’s. They are off grid and have an industrial generator for power runs from around 5:30/6 in the morning to 10ish at night. I plugged my solar generator into the wall the fridge into it through 12v plug. My fridge ran almost continuously for two plus weeks this setup was fantastic. I only pulled the generator out one time in basalt to run it back up to 100%. The rest of the time I drove enough to keep up but being there 4 nights it was getting close. But even on this long a trip a 60 is too large. But not having to deal with ice is fantastic!! And the majority of them are as cheap or cheaper than a yeti just like anything else you can spend as much as you want. And prime days are coming up.

Nothing about fly fishing is cheap but don’t you love it!! I fished a orvis clearwater side by side with my Winston at Budge’s if I got broke off I would hand it to Emma she would untangle or tie another fly on while I fished. It was most likely the wind but I found the accuracy was a little more precise on the orvis rod in the conditions. 5w fairly fast action compared to 4w slow action but the Winston still gets the nod on dropping a dry like a snowflake. I should have broken out my 5w recon in the conditions I have not fished it in forever. I didn’t realize how much my casting has improved an always say I just muddle through never practice show up at the stream tie on and have at it. But when you have someone say left side of the run high stick it now try the right side or up in that V between the pine top and the rock o_O I’ve been just doing things and not thinking about it and it no longer bothers me if someone’s watching. And if you get a minute look in your trout magazine at the pictures for the tiny credit for Josh Duplechian. IMG_4644.jpg
That’s was our photographer we had along he was such a great guy and we had a ball.

We have a Dometic in the trailer but it’s a power hog. Considering an Iceco 55 qt. But the price of the BougeRV unit has been tempting. I can get 3-4 days off my EcoFlow Delta. More if I’m connected to the solar panels.

I keep looking at the more expensive ones but like you the Bouge is tempting and if you get a while out of it and it goes belly up you’re not broken hearted.

    Morning all

Been looking at fridges, mainly the Engel mt35
Only because it is the exact measurement for the place I want to install. But at 1k, I can't justify it.

    I will look at Bouge.

The rocky series gets pretty good reviews but I agree with you.

And in my opinion that’s a perfect size mine was way too big for a truck trip. It is dual zone but I had both sides set on fridge temp and didn’t do ice cream or anything this time.

Bouge is made in China, thus the low price.
Engel is Japanese more than double the price, a longer warranty better compressor.

But like you said, use the Bouge and get another if it breaks, still cheaper.
I would not want to be halfway through a trip when it breaks

    Good afternoon everyone.

I went to a local SP and did a 3 mile "hike" yesterday. I only went a few times last year and none so far this year, so the 3 miles felt like a marathon. The hiking boots weren't fitting so great, I guess that my feets have swollen a bit over the past year.

It's time to go outside and flush the evap core on the GMC, I plan to have hoses made on Friday so that I can evacuate the system and get a charge into it.

@Marty65 - I'm hoping that your return trip was uneventful?

I have the Alpicool in a 10 (too small) and a 60 dual zone handy sometimes but a little large. I got both off of Mac.bid at a deal and they have worked great so far. But I probably took life off of the larger one this trip. That road into Budge’s was ruff the last 8/10 miles. The compressor or something must be mounted on springs or some kind of rubber mount. Because I would hear a ding occasionally but it continued to work like a champ. But I get it you would be hearing a different tune if it had quit on me. But I probably won’t punish one this bad normally did I say the road was ruff. I did some of the early in 2wd but it was shoving rocks I finally figured out that 4L and crawling was way easier on the bones. And the brakes.
