I want to swap my 9800x3d for the 9950x3d and the 5070ti for a 5080/5090. :spending:

    Thermaltake Tower 600 Matcha Green
    9 120mm Thermaltake RGB SWAfans
    AMD 9800x3d
MSI 5070ti vanguard soc launch edition
    MSI x870e carbon
    Samsung 990 pro 4tb
    G.Skill Trident Z5 64gb
    MSI MPG A1000GS
Artic Cooling Liquid Freezer 3 RGB 420mm AIO. (Also have an NZXT RGB Kraken Elite 360 2024 AIO that I might swap in for the lcd screen.)

I need some better pictures. RGB wasn't programmed yet. It was stuffed into storage as soon as I finished the build. The keyboard and mouse will be swapped eventually and I still need to order a decent monitor.

How do you like that sound card? I used to run a creative xfi xtremegamer fatality card with z-5500 speakers many, many years ago. The sound quality was phenomenal.

I haven't picked the machine up yet from the builder. Hopefully tomorrow or Friday.

But SB has always had quality components.

Oh no way, why not some cans?

Not to discount the PC, that's a nice build, but a soundcard with an ESS DAC will be lost on PC speakers for sure.

I guess I'm not familiar with the terminology of "cans". What are cans?

Oh. I haven't even considered those. Any recommendations?

Many speakers utilize digital inputs, which means they'll handle all the sound processing themselves.

This means ignoring the soundcard's greatest strength - the conversion of digital audio to analog via means of a quality processor (the Sabre).

It's damn near impossible to discern the difference when it comes to computer speakers though whether you went analog or digital anyway.

A good set of headphones though are a whole different story. I see your soundcard also has a dedicated amp for running cans with a high impedance, the main reason for buying said card.

If I were you, I'd consider your music palette, and then decide what sort of "emphasis" you want on your sound. Some brands offer "warmer tones" whereas others are really "bright".

Higher end headphones are better at creating a proper soundstage.

Then you've got open back and closed backs, which also change how things sound.

I've been an audiophile for many years and my favorite setup is something as sterile as possible, so it sounds as true as possible.

I run a Schiit DAC/amp (same ESS Sabre processor) along with some Beyerdynamic 1770 Pro MKII's; just about my favorite setup for under $1k

    20250616_182829.jpg

Used to run Seinnheiser HD650s for years with a Peachtree Nova; awesome combo but it took up quite a bit of desk space.
