Oh, I completely understand that. When I crossed in PA on the return trip 3 years ago, I felt more depressed than when I left to go to Gunnison. I'm tempted to go back this year and drive Black Bear Road, I'm not sure if the old 3rd gen T4R has another 5000 mile road trip left in it.

I jokingly told mom I saw 9 places I could relocate to but it was more than that.

The campground I’m at is about 10 minutes from the Orvis shop. I’m going tomorrow to have them load my spools. I told my wife that they will load them for free because I bought the line from them last week. You should have seen the look on her face. Place is a major candy store, all top shelf products, staff , teaching. A bunch of local made products, I better hide the Visa card from myself self. It’s raining again, but tomorrow is supposed to be real nice

Always carry cash!! Then you can soften the blow by cutting the price some I don’t even speak it aloud to myself. And some things you just don’t add up :anonymous: then you will have to admit that you have a problem o_O Everything I need to show up and fish fits in one bag how bad could it be :bananadead::bananadead:

Oh, believe me when I tell you that I was thinking of anyway possible for me to sell my house and move out there. There is absolutely no work doing what I do in any of the old railroad/mining towns, even Denver doesn't have much in the way of that kind of work and the work that does exist pays even less than it does around where I live. I have no way to realistically live any sort of meaningful life out there.

    FISHIES!!!!!
I didn’t get 42 in a day like @Marty65 but I did get 7, 16, 7 and 20 over the course of 4 days. But then I had to tie my own flies on and drive myself around and didn’t have anyone there to do it for me
I think maybe the new waders impressed the fishies
Lots of Cutthroats as usual but I was getting way bigger fish overall this year. Only a few baby fish
    IMG_5271.jpg IMG_5284.jpg IMG_5304.jpg
Also caught a nice Brookie (he was dinner along with one of the Cutty’s) a Brown and not one but two Bull trout. I think I’ve only ever caught Cuttys up there before so having all the variety was kind of a surprise. Bull trout are endangered here and heavily protected, 100% C&R. Shame too… the 2nd one I caught was the biggest fish I ever pulled in. I thought he was gonna break my damn rod!
    IMG_5324.jpg IMG_5275.jpg IMG_5321.jpg
last one was the big guy. I didn’t know what it was at first, just saw this massive black back under the water.

I also caught the same fish twice within 12 minutes, on the same fly, standing in the same spot. If you look at the spots on the side you’ll see the pattern is identical

I only take my phone if I’m familiar with the section of river I’m on and know that I’ll have both good footing and fairly shallow wading. I’m not very graceful when I’m wading and I’ve never fallen in but I know it’s bound to happen sometime.
you guys show up here and I’ll take you out. Right now is just about perfect fishing time. Waters down just enough and lots of bugs out.

But you’re tying your own knots, netting your own fish and taking your own pics. Not a full service guide here!
