This is the left side of my knee, in which the stitches could handle the rigors of spontaneous lovemaking…

So, it turns out that my knee is infected, but we caught it early enough that’s it’s superficial and can be taken care of using antibiotics. I called the orthopedist at the insistence of Amanda and my mom and after talking to the office I was originally going to wait until my originally scheduled appointment on Thursday. However, I got a call back a short time later saying that my doctor wanted to see me today; I went, and it turns out that it’s infected. If all goes according to plan, I go back to work on Tuesday, July 8th!

Also, I managed to get some action yesterday; I’ve heard of a threesome, but twenty?!?!

I’ve never personally taken part in a threesome, but this past March, Amanda and I went to a strip club with our neighbors. My one neighbor’s friend was visiting from Switzerland, and he had obviously never been an American strip club before, so we took him. Amanda, not only went, but we got a lap dance together and Amanda loved it!

Never been to one. I'm serious too.
The ROI for that is nearly nonexistent.

Been a few times in my 20s and a few times since. Never was much for drinking there even when I was a drinker, I'd make sure to pre game prior and try to somewhat pace myself. For me that was more like 6-8 beers.

Though I have met a few movie stars there..giggle..

Emily's mom is a special education teacher, and while Emily was never formally diagnosed with any form of autism, Amanda and I both believe that she was on the spectrum. After talking with Emily's mom, she tends to agree with us. This makes things even more heartbreaking, because I feel like I could have connected with her even more if I knew for sure. Just over two months after finding our friend's body, the struggle is still very real; I have gotten a lot better, and Amanda is coping, but her PTSD doesn't help matters. I never had PTSD, so while finding a dead body was traumatic for me, it hasn't affected me like it has affected Amanda. I often replay in my mind the moment the lights came on in the condo, and I knew that Emily was no longer with us.

I am still feeling guilt about things that I said to Emily while she was still alive, and I also believe that I am feeling guilty about having not checked up on her prior to Saturday morning. We are 99% sure that she passed sometime after 6am on Saturday morning, based on clues including a text message to her ex-boyfriend and the condition of her body. My last text conversation with her was a little more than five days before we found her, and it consisted of me expressing annoyance at her for texting me at work to complain about not feeling well.

You can't dwell in the past, buddy.
I know that is easier said, than done.
Progression doesn't come if one stays in the past.

Use this as a learning lesson.
Ask yourself, What can I do to help my self mental should I experience this again?
Could change a current "bad" relationship with someone that is close to you that may die before you?
I'd focus on the issues at hand. Emily's death is not the issue.
It's what caused the issue, but it is not the issue.

    The PTSD, is the issue.
I'd find ways of dealing with it.
Unfortunately, you are likely to experience another death that comes unknowingly or at a fast pace.

I can't really help you here. As I seem to take things like this fairly easy.
But there a lot in my past that's made me be able to "let people go".

Just keep working with your psychologist.
They usually know good ways of coaching people through things like this.

I feel like it’s different when a parent or grandparent is sick, and you are expecting them to die. Amanda and I always used to say that Emily would be dead before 50 if she stay on the path she was on, but we didn’t realize how unhealthy she was, and we still haven’t gotten the autopsy results back!

I’ve eased up on the alcohol and junk food since we found Emily, and I feel like it’s easier to get up in the morning, among other things. The thing is that Emily didn’t have any vices (didn’t drink, didn’t smoke, and didn’t do drugs). She was just largely sedentary, very stubborn, and treated her body like an amusement park from a dietary standpoint. She was on a ton of medications, and we think there’s a possibility her untimely death resulted from two prescribed medications interacting.

I think that getting the toxicology report and cause of death will go a long way in helping us to find peace. We were both experiencing a lot of guilt early on, with regards to whether or not we could have gotten there before Emily actually died and saved her life.

One possible scenario would be that we got there while she was still alive, but her brain had been starved of oxygen. If they’d revived her, but she was a vegetable, that would have been a fate worse than death.

I have largely come to terms with the fact that there’s probably nothing we could have done to save Emily unless we had thought to show up on Friday night or incredibly early on Saturday morning. I had work on Saturday and Emily was the last thing on my mind. Amanda is off most of Thursday, all of Friday and Saturday, and most of Sunday. Amanda last had communications with Emily, via text, on the night Thursday, May 1st; Emily told Amanda that she believed the prednisone she had taken was interacting with the Wellbutrin she was already on. She had also been complaining all week of getting winded just walking from room to room in her small condo.

Emily complained of breathing issues and just generally feeling like shit, but she’d had a habit of embellishing medical problems to get attention in the past, and we both kind of just admonished her at this point; I will likely always feel guilty about not taking the texts on April 28th seriously.

Amanda’s response to Emily on May 1st was telling her to immediately go see a doctor in person; Emily was notoriously stubborn right up to the last hours of her life, and preferred to see doctors via telehealth rather than in person. It is unfortunately obvious that Emily did not go see a doctor. Even going to Urgent Care likely would have saved her life.

I personally don’t believe that it was a longterm illness that killed Emily. As I’ve stated before, her skin was yellow when we found her body, which would be an indication of liver failure. I did some online research and learned that yellow skin postmortem is not necessarily an indication of liver failure. While liver failure is plausible, I am about as far from being a medical examiner as one can be.

Our initial belief was that Emily had a seizure in her sleep brought on by the interaction of the prednisone and Wellbutrin, threw up, and aspirated. To the layperson, aspiration is drowning in your own vomit, and it is very common cause of death when someone is asleep or unconscious; I somehow missed the vomit around Emily, even though I was staring directly at her body, but Amanda saw it. The possible medication interaction is not hearsay; Emily texted Amanda barely a day and a half before her probable time of death, saying she’s taken prednisone and that she believed it was interacting with the Wellbutrin she was already on.

We showed our text conversations to the responding police officer that night, and also shared them with Emily’s parents.

There quite possibly was mold in the condo’s central A/C ductwork, and that very well could have played a role in Emily’s death. The last time we were in Emily’s condo before the HVAC system was replaced and before any of us knew there was mold in the air handler, which was in October or November of 2024, Amanda and I both started feeling a little sick.

We started out with the medication-induced seizure theory, and then moved to the liver failure theory. After reading the stuff in the screenshot below, I am leaning back towards the first theory; I really don’t think that any of Emily’s longterm existing ailments killed her, and that it was something very sudden that could have been prevented…

I took these pictures back in May, and keep forgetting to post them. This is a civilian-owned, ex-military 2007 Humvee that is titled and registered in Pennsylvania! On top of that, it is one of the rare military Hummers I’ve seen that has air-conditioning! Yes, the A/C actually works!
