I have done a diesel swap in my Tacoma. I am having a some transmission hard shift issues. Brand new built transmission with a stand alone controller. I need help deciding if I have to replace the valve body or the transmission completely. Does anyone have a good understanding of the internals of a 340F? I have about 500 miles and the swap and everything is good except the the shift issue.

Well, it all started a couple months ago when I got a wild idea for a motor I had.. So, I found a clean first gen and embarked on this project. Couple months later it’s rolling a little coal and I love it. IMG_9142.jpg

One of the most unique builds I have seen on here. Never would have expected a Kubota motor in a first gen... so unbelievably cool. Hopefully there is a way to alleviate some of the transmission problems because the motor is a complete tank.

Are you sure it isn't somehow related to the controller? I know very little about it myself. There's a guy on here that knows a lot about them, can't remember his username but he'll probably chime in.
Very clean looking truck, thanks for sharing!

I finally got the transmission figured out! The place the built it put in a transgo shift kit and a Sonnax relief valve AND a shim in the relief valve! Its all correct now and it drives great. Anyone want to help do a build write up?

What do you need help with? Did you get a lot of pictures during the build process?

Do you not have an air filter on that? Looks like the air intake is piped straight to the wheel well. That cant be good for it

Curious as to final drive ratio, all diesels I have had have had a 3.53 or lower, numerically, rear end.

It has the stock 4:10 gears. It tops out about 75mph. It cruises around town perfectly. It wont be used for long trips. It is perfect for what i wanted, 30-55mph it drives great. 22-25 mpg and right in the RPM sweet spot.

I’ve wanted to do this since the Roxer came out! Did you make your own adaptor and motor mounts? So cool

I had to make or have everything made. I could not find a single other one that had ever been done with this engine. Luckily it all worked out and is great to drive.
