Sorry, gonna be another year of no for me. I’ll make it one of these years as my boys get older. Always appreciate being thought of though!

    @MikefromCT

And for everyone as well: I am thinking about a day trip up into Canada, from wherever we are, we'd have to exit the woods via a gate, and then cross the border at Fort Kent/Madawaska, or Jackman. So far I know @man17TRDoffroad is interested.

Long of the short - dogs need their license and rabies records, we people need passports that are valid up until the day of return (no >6 months requirement to and from Canada). Children - not gonna lie - haven't a clue.

No Canada for me this year, we hope to do a trip in the next few years, Bay of Fundi, and Prince Edward Island are on the list

    Boooooo

Only a day trip from camp, back to camp at the end of the day though, not an overnight in Canada.

We're looking at one campsite near Portage Lake (the lake is outside the woods), so we'd go up from there to Ft Kent and then from there - not really sure.

Maybe this? Don't know, there's not a lot up that-a-ways vs out west.

If we're at another site further southwest near Seboomook area we'd go out to Jackman and then cross over on 201, and from there QC isn't THAT far off. Less than 2 hours (without the border crossing time) from Jackman to QC.

From and back to Jackman, maybe something like this.
    upload_2025-7-14_10-1-20.png

Would be an early start to make sure we have time but could be fun.

But either way I think I'm going to want to go into Canada for a day. I'll have to look at my timing to make it happen - I was planning to be there Thursday-Monday (or Sunday depending). So it would maybe be a Friday excursion? Maybe Saturday? :notsure:

No passport and no want to get one yet. I used to cross the border multiply times a week, just a wave then shit happened and rules changed. Just not worth a day trip for me.
Portage lake is nice, there is also a state park in PI.

there is some camping near seboomook, pretty sure at least. I believe I camped there probably 10 years ago now.

Makes sense - I wouldn't get one just for a day trip to Canadia.
I have to renew mine because it's <6 months out, but Canada doesn't need that, Can and Mex are the same for US Passports - just valid through date of stay.

You make a good point, if we planned to go to Canada and want the day, we could head out the night before and do Seboomok or that gravel pit from a couple years ago, that way we wake up near Jackman. Would be tougher to coordinate, we can't bring open food/food stuffs, I was planning to basically empty everything at camp and then take off for the day.

Im down for a Canada trip, preferably through ft Kent but you know me im down for whatever.

Ft Kent up to the st Lawrence would be a nice day trip to explore.

If we're at fish camp we'll go up there way. If we're down by seboomok I'm not going 6 hours to a border crossing at ft Kent when there's one an hour away north of Jackman.

I'm hoping for fish camp and that route i sent. It's not thrilling but it would be cool.

Ain't nothing thrilling about that area of Canada other than the scenery. Probably some good spots for lunch if/when that we could hit in the area.

Is going all the way out to Sherbrooke more exciting than going to the St Lawrence? We could still go North no matter where we enter.
