Let's See Your Dogs!!

Thank you everyone. We are doing okay... We have our moments where we get sad but are trying to remember all the fun and good times and how sassy she was. Took sometime away from the forums to just focus on us.

 

The last night of begging for "not Tessa food" in this house. Tomorrow the journey to Tennessee starts!

Unfortunately no. We'll be in an Airbnb for a couple of weeks till the house is done.

My two Pitties, one is a red nose the other a blue nose, so I have Red, White and Blue Doggies...

 

Me and my brother had a blue nose pit when we were in our early 20s. Azul was his name big boy probably the biggest head I've ever seen on a pit. He sadly passed away at 4yrs. Vet said he out grew his intestines. He was solid blue no white markings absolutely beautiful dog wish I had pictures of him. He was an excellent pup.

 

Guess we both are having a lazy day. Busy holiday weekend.

 

I think Tessa is adjusting to the Airbnb. I think I need coffee.

no pics but we had an incident sadly with astra and eevee...

as most know astra is a 1.5 year old heeler Shepard mix we adopted in Oklahoma, she was dumped in the country and most likely abused before hand but meeting her you wouldnt even think she was! which is a good thing she is so sweet and loveable.

the issue we had was on sunday me and the gf were chilling playing video games. eevee was under my legs in the blanket sleeping while astra was laying on the floor. astra started whimpering in her sleep but it quickly turned to pained and fearful wines like if she was having a ptsd moment in her dream. well eevee looks after astra like a big sister and makes sure she is okay. so eevee went to check on her and astra well astra woke up and moved slowly and then attacked eevee... id like to point out that eevee is fine, she yelped but no blood was drawn and eevee isnt holding a grudge atm she seems fine still with astra.

astra went for eevees neck my gf grabbed astra by her hide and started to calm and then tried to lunge again until i grabbed her by her hide and picked her up off the ground. yes she was punished (no i dont beat my dogs..) after a bit astra seems fine and apologized to eevee and me since i was very very mad. so atm everything seems okay again and both the dogs are happy and playing again but we are going to have to be careful that astra doesnt hurt eevee.


as stated we dont know astras back ground so there is a good chance she was re-watching it or something? while she slept. since these two sleep together or dang near on each other a lot so it was very odd to see happen.

 

Thats awful...sorry to hear that.

I have a rescue dog for > 8 yrs and she still has frequent night terrors.

She has not woken up violently like that though.

I know through patience and love you can get Astra through this. Poor girl.

 

thats what we hope since we do love the little turd! plus her and eevee are such good buddies! it was just a shock to see it happen! those two are always running and playing or sleeping together.. so hopefully we can get it sorted and it doesnt become a problem and nobody gets hurt.

 

Sorry to hear about Astras having the bad dreams, and very glad everyone is OK, that could have turned out bad... We have always rescued all our fur babies over the years and have had plenty of Pitties, and having very powerful dogs, don't think I don't think about what could happen when one of them is having a bad dream, and it happens multiple times a week sometimes... And almost all the doggies we have had that were not Pitties have all been around 100#s, so they also have pretty big teeth... lol

So far I have never been bit by any of them when waking them up, but I have been bit many times over the years for various reasons, once was a face bite from a 95# Pit, that I lost about a week of work while waiting for the swelling to go down and the numbness to go away, I kid you not, I have been in a lot of fights when I was younger and never been hit in the jaw as hard as that doggy hit my jaw, my wife couldn't understand how/why I was standing there with blood running down my face and neck laughing, but in his defense he was very protective over her and she was very sick and he was laying by her head when I bent down to give her a kiss goodbye it startled her and I got bit... lol... I just simply said ooops, won't do that again and laughed about it, luckily I have very fast reflexes and when he went for the 2nd bite I was able to grab him by the neck (like a pack leader would do to correct another in the pack) and put him on his side until he came off his redzone...
That was the 2nd time he bit me when I went to kiss my wife... lol
Almost all the bites were my fault, no I never abused any of them, it was for various reasons though, like holding them while they were hurt while trying to tend to them for whatever reason... Thinking about it now, only one Pitty ever bit me, and it was several different times, it has always been the other doggies that always got me... lol... But I also know and understand and most of all respect the Pit Bull bread, I love the bread and all of ours have always been great with baby's all the way up to elderly people, but again, you have to know the bread...

Anyway, sorry for the rambling on, just glad your fur babies are OK and hopefully it was just a one time thing...

 

Well, this is where the saying comes from, don't wake a sleeping dog. Hell, sometimes I get aggressive when being woken up. I used to have to get up at 4:30 AM to throw papers, and I once cussed my mom out when she woke me up, don't remember any of it.

Anyway, if it happens again, I bet eevee learns not to mess with her when she's sleeping.

 

You misread what happened... Eevee didn't mess with her... She went to check on her to see why she was in the state she was in...
