Need it straight for storage when traveling, will have some packout boxes in the bed for gear. Dog gets the back seat. Thanks though.

*knocks on wood* never dealt with small staple sized punctures that the sealer as mentioned would fix on my tubless tires. But on the only tubless bike I have, I carry a fully plug kit.

Ill +1 to 3oz/2oz seems to be the upper typical especially if knobby.

From my experience outside of one set of radial out of round shinko tires on my grom, all tires have been pretty dang uniform balanced regardless of make. 3oz or less to balance even if things arent lined up well.

I stopped running balance beads as they ended up with weird high speed vibrations on the super tenere and were a fuggin MESS. Put the rims alone on a balance stand and tentatively balanced (noted) real quick before putting the street tires on according to markings and proceeded to not have to balance much more. The two tubed dual sports (XT225 and WR450, 21in front 18 rear on both) I did the same and those rim locks took A LOT to balance out but like stated the tires didnt really change things balance wise more than 1oz or less... but WOW at speed having the rim lock balanced on the rim made things considerably smooth.

Finally decided to do a flush on the z650 forks at 7k, not very much metal but way over due! Threw in some 15w oil and loving the difference. Still needs some heavier spring per the travel indicator

Nice to hear they are holding! Both sets of wheels/tires for the DRZ had a sh-t ton of weights on them when I bought it. When I put the Shinkos on the SM wheels, I was able take some of them off. I had been using jack stands, copper pipe, and a bit of grease to balance all my previous wheels (sport bikes) but quickly realized that set up did not work so well for these. Bought a "real" balancer and it works great!

I did the jack stands with the axle bolt thru them. Not ideal but get's it in the ball park. Harbor Freight has virtually the same balance stand as the big names, might invest in that, but would rather not have another specialty tool taking up space, garage is quite crowded.
Still at 40psi this morning. :D
Gotta make a living for a few hours, then put the wheels on the bike. I was lazy Thursday and blew off what I'm doing this morning, otherwise I'd be out there now.

I did order the balance beads to try. Need to replace the tube patch kit for a decent plug kit.

Added some Cyclops lights to the front of the 890. I’m impressed with the power of these to say the least.

Yesterday my plan was to ride to this location for a new destination and a photo op with the bikes.

We always passed it when we'd head down to Bethel Ridge to camp. I had it in my head it was along 123, between 410 and 12... Well, we didn't make it, cause about halfway through 123 we hit construction with loose gravel and those nice "Motorcycles Use Extreme Caution" signs. Nicole didn't want to deal with it, so we stopped to rest for a few, and headed back the other way. Well, luckily for me, we hit that construction... because I was wrong about where the pullout with the view was. Nicole would not have been happy if we hit the end of 123 and hadn't made it. It was actually another few miles down hwy 12. OOPS.

On the way back we were gonna stop in Greenwater again for snacks or ice cream. As we were getting close to town I was actually thinking about the Pie Goddess in Enumclaw, but figured Nicole needed a break. Within seconds Nicole comes over the Cardo, "What about heading to Pie Goddess?" She had actually never been, but I always mention it as we drive through Enumclaw. So we kept riding and man... it was as good as I remember it.

Now to talk about some bad actors on motorcycles that make the rest of us look bad. Where we turned around, we had to wait a bit for traffic. We finally pulled in behind about 6 cars followed by a group of 8 or so motorcycles (mostly, if not all sport/crotch rocket bikes). 123 is a narrow twisty road through the national park. Almost immediately, on a blind right hand corner, 2 or 3 of the motos pull out and start passing the rear most couple cars of the group of 6 pretty much bumper to bumper. They continue to do this slowly leaving multiple bikes between the cars as they keep trying to pass. Now, this is a slow, windy road, and this is ridiculous. We finally get to a short stretch and folks are going really slow and the bikes all pull out to pass and gun it, as the very front car, a prius, turns left across them to pull into a trailhead. 3 of the bikes narrowly miss t-boning the prius or side swiping the cars that are now stopped. With how much traffic was on those roads this weekend, I'm still amazed they didn't head on someone on one of those corners. After that, we were obviously still behind the 5 remaining cars. The last was a small hatchback that I'm pretty sure feared we were going to do something just as stupid, as they were driving super slow and the rest of the cars pulled ahead. I backed way off at that point and they started to speed up and we caught up to the pack shortly after.

Hope you all had a good 4th!

we love a riding weekend with pie. I was out in the canyons all weekend, and see sport bike riders passing like you mentioned all the time. I have done it myself as well, but I always wait for the open straights to pass, and drivers usually make extra room for us here if they can. It takes a special kind of crazy to pass on blind crests/corners.

I had my own experience in the canyons. Lately I've been riding with a buddy who just started out, on a CRF300L. But his dad let him take out his F800GS this weekend. We were running my usual route, and came upon 2 riders on Triumphs. They were decent, albeit a bit slow, but I didn't bother to pass them since I was leading my buddy on his F800. eventually, we hit one of the really long straights, and they were still cruising really slow, so we decide to pass them. Mind you, this is a nearly mile long straight, no oncoming traffic, and it's a huge valley so you can see all the way to the end from the very beginning. We passed them in the oncoming traffic lane, so it wasn't close at all. They didn't like that, and decided to try and catch up, and start passing me and my buddy on the twisty sections.

Now I'm not proud of what I did next, but I was heated. So I decided to follow them and start pressuring them. The one in front took that as a challenge and ditched his buddy to pass 2 cars on a blind corner and take off. His buddy was clearly not a very experienced rider, so once I realized that I let off. We ended up stopping at the same gas station, and the less experienced one came up to my buddy to apologize but neither said a word to me and that was that. Then we went to get some pie and the rest of the day was great.

I grew up with a massive quad because my dad used it for his landscaping/gardening, but never really got to actually ride it. My first real experience on one was in Ocotillo with some friends. Thought I was the hottest shit drifting it around everywhere until I caught a lip of dry cracked dirt and it rolled, launching me from the vehicle lol. still don't know how that one didn't get me injured.

some of them are like that. My track crashes never got to me, but i had a very minor high side on my R6 when I first got it that is always in the back of my head.

Happy belated dude! welcome to the other side

My other crashes I can say.."You did this when you should have done...." This wreck was so slow and shouldn't have happened. I guess since I was going so slow that I just wasn't in a "ready" position.....and it bite me in the ass. It truly was a newb wreck......and one that most newbs wouldn't have had

in the words of the Eagles..."you can check out anytime you like but you can never leave"

hey, if it makes you feel better, i almost dropped my Ducati the first week I had it coming to an unexpected stop over a gas station driveway dip with my short ass legs. saved it inches from the winglet getting destroyed. That one hurt my shoulder.

I keep trying to grow the damn things but they have plateaued it seems.
