I have a 2006 Tacoma, and the air is only blowing cold in the driver side far vent. The other vents are 25 to 30 degrees warmer. The cold blowing vent can be between 50 and 60 degrees on a 90 degree day. Checked with a temp guage. I found two actuators behind the glove box that seem to be working. Don't know if there are more actuators or where they are on a 2006. It would appear if 1 vent can blow that degree cold air it wouldn't be a charge issue but an air mixture issue. All the other vents other then the driver far left vent have good airflow just not cold. Any ideas?

It can still be a charge issue depending on what vent is plumbed from the coil first.

What is the temp of the coldest vent? Going to bet it's not as cold as you think.

Automotive A/C systems can do some weird stuff.

    System needs a charge.

Many threads here describing the same symptoms.

Sounds like a low charge/refrigerant issue, turn the A/C on high, engine running and check the suction line. If it's not cold or barely cool you have a refrigerant issue, if it's nice and cold but your vents aren't cold you have a blend door issue.

If you do need to add refrigerant don't use any that has stop leak, leak sealer, or that says "seals leaks" on it, stop leak will wreck an A/C system if any moisture or air ever enters the system.

I had this same issue on my 07. It was a low charge due to a small leak in my evaporator core. Do a leak test just to make sure.

If it’s low you have a leak, always fix the leak first.

If that line were insulated, would the system blow any colder?

It may help, shouldn't hurt anything.

    Try it and see:thumbsup:

Very curious what the temp difference would be insulating this line. I believe some cars use to come with foam over the the rubber lines.

I wouldn’t think it is a good idea to insulate ac lines in a vehicle simply because you would probably cause those lines to rust with the moisture inside the foam next to the line.

Yea I did quick research and it's not something I'm going to do. They do it on buildings but it's not needed on our trucks.

Are the lines ferrous? Not aluminium?

On second gens the outside vents are also side window defoggers,
the outside & windshield defroster are positive ventilation & can't be shutoff.

I have no idea. Probably a combination of both to save money.

A 2005 in the family had this symptom. It was a low charge problem. One vent felt cold and the others did not. Running the fan on "low" and/or recirc brought the temp of the air down a little colder; running it on full-high/outside-air made it warmer. A quick re-charge fixed it, (cold air from all of the vents) but only for a few days. Diagnosis found a condenser leak. Thankfully, it wasn't the evaporator.

Yea I had same issue. Used a can of AC Pro from the store and it lasted a few years. Eventually it went out again and it was a small leak in the evaporator. Talk about a expensive PITA! But in Florida A/C is not an option for me anymore.
