What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Went on a two week treck with my girl. Started in Napa/Sonoma County, CA. Hiked all over Point Reyes and up and down the coast. Stopped at Bud's Custom Meats and Hog Island Oyster Company. IYKYK. Packed up the truck after a week in that area and shot up to Klamath Falls Oregon. The last time we were up here was during all the fires. It was nice to see some recovery. Mount Shasta was looking dope and Crater Lake is simply amazing. No hiking at Crater Lake as all the trails were still snowed in. Had to chill with all the tourists at the regular Vista Points. Klamath Falls has a killer skate park. Its a big boy park with a massive bowl. Rolled around and didn't die.
Came home and changed my oil and added the cast metal filter housing and shelved the plastic one. Forgot the O-ring on the little cap so the driveway and underside of the truck got throughly pressure washed and wiped down after a costly oil bath. I'm a dummy.

 

Yes sir. I was very surprised of how good it sounds.

 

Yes, for sure. I originally went with kickers in the doors and in the dash along with OEM plus for the behind the back seat sub woofer. Then later changed out the tweeters with DS 18s, keeping the original head unit. Then I heard the Focals in a buddy’s taco and my mind was totally changed.
So, swapped the kickers for Focal 690s, JL Audio RD-900/5 amp that takes care of the woofer as well.
I had my finger on the trigger to get the Stinger head unit,,, but saw a video on yt where after awhile off road the stinger has a tendency to develop a rattle. Hope that hasn’t happened to you.
But I’m still waiting on shipment of the Sony. Enjoy your tunes my friend, I can’t wait to enjoy mine.

 

Took it to the beach and got to stare at 4th Gen Ocean Rescue Tacomas on the beach all day. While I like the aesthetic of the current set up, I am really considering ditching the roll up tonneau and trying out a softtopper. Just not sure I can stomach the loss to swap up setups... Ugh.

 

Crater lake is just awesome beyond belief. Great pictures.

 

I've always thought of myself as spoiled being just a few hours from Lake Tahoe and Yosemite and a dozen beaches and redwood parks. Crater Lake is a whole different vibe. Just next level. Especially if the trails are open and you can get away from the tourists.

 

The Canadian Rockies are pretty awesome as well

 

So beautiful. One of these days we're going to make a road trip out that way.

 

Mine is a 2018 SR Access Cab, 2WD, 2.7 4-cyl with 104,500 miles.

Other items needing attention: front R strut seeping, steering rack boot wet, small oils seepage from timing cover.

 

It would be well worth the trip. Because pictures do not do the justice this place deserves. Banff and Jasper. And the ice fields parkway.

 

At my current avg 20mpg, looks to be about 114 gallons of fuel

 

I keep going back and forth with ditch lights im currently looking at 2bangers from miramoto

 

Just spent the most money to date on my Tacoma (besides when I bought the truck.)

Ordered Backwoods Adventure high clearance bumpers front and back, Wildtop topper, Prinsu racks, and OVS 270 Nomadic awning.

Those goodies plus the new Bilsteins put me close to $10,000 this year, the last thing I have is an exhaust reroute and transfer skid plate then my Tacoma will be 100% done.

Besides long travel all the mods I want will be done. From now on it should just be fixing/replacing parts that break/wear out.

Long travel is a massive money pit so I don't think I'll venture down that route.

 

Thanks I got tired of seeing the trd pro grill on every 3rd gen. I wanted something different.
I'm still debating if I should save up and do bilstein 5200 with 2inch lift or get the morimoto 2banger ditch lights. Why morimoto i saw that they out shine the baja S2 and i like the low profile look. Plus truck just has 14441 miles on so I dont know if I should wait till my shocks go out

 

I thought crater lake was/is closed till 2029 for some type of nature restoration project?

sorry to hear that...My experience, not many drive under 80 mph in SoCal when things aren't gridlocked.
