I had State Farm for a lot of years. I don't think loyal would be a word I would use to describe them. I moved to Allstate. Had them for a couple years before moving to a different home and switching my homeowners over to them also. About 3 months later I got a letter from them stating that I didn't have my new address tied to my account. Now keep in mind I had homeowners through them at this point. Anyway, they stated that not having my current address tied to my account would be grounds for not providing coverage in case of an accident. That doesn't fill me with confidence that Allstate has my best interest in mind. In my opinion insurance companies are just different levels of suck.

How did they snatch it? I had asshole casing my truck last month about half way towards TJ from your location. Scared them off but wondering how they got yours? Good Luck with the ordeal.

Homeowners may cover stuff inside. I had my tires slashed (ex wife) and called my agent who had both car and homeowners. Homeowners covered tow and 4 new tires. I was pleasantly surprised

A total loss insurance claim is almost always a losing ordeal on the claimants part. Last year someone ran a stop sign and totaled my rare diesel VW out. I had USAA and they use CCC for valuation, just like GEICO. My best advice is to ask for the CCC valuation report and comb through the comps thoroughly to ensure they were accurate. They had used incorrect comps for my valuation, which I was able to challenge, but I was only able to push my valuation up another $2k. By this I mean they listed cars as the same trim, but I ran the VINs to prove they were lesser models/trims. I also had lower miles, which I felt I was never fairly comp’s for. The battle is mostly with CCC and not the insurance companies alone. Luckily there’s a lot of Tacomas out there that can be used as comps, so just comb the comps thoroughly, but just know you need to have well structured arguments for anything/everything you refute. After market parts may be a total loss all together, but it’s worth trying to argue. Best of luck, this took me 2 months of fighting.

Adding on. Whatever your answer to the above you will need documents to prove it crossed the boarder.
Insurance company's have you wait 30 days to see if it is recovered. Been there done that!

Hopefully OP has a second ride, a rental on the policy, and/or can fork out money for a temporary beater.

the last time i went thru the process, after a deer ran into my car [for realzy]
i was nice and calm with the adjuster
i insisted on OEM parts and was there when he inspected it, asked a few questions but didn't get in his way
anyways, the estimate was fair/on point and i was on my way with a check in a few hours

there is a lot said for being kind to the person you are dealing with
when your job means you get yelled at all day by unhappy people, you are pretty stoked when someone isn't a dick and tend to be more agreeable with their situation

Progressive has $1000 included in aftermarket accessories. My last policy with them had that plus a few thousand more for other extras. When I had a claim last summer for the bear that tore into my tonneau and scratched up my paint they were absolutely terrible. They wanted to use non oem parts and completely lowballed the repair amount. I took their crumby check less my $250 deductible and ended up polishing out the paint and replacing a few pieces myself. They were terrible about raising my rate at every renewal period too.

After I switched to Geico, but I currently have no aftermarket coverage. I need to switch again, because they've raised my rates for no reason. All insurance companies suck hippo flatulence.

Is there is a small possibility that Toyota took it back to the factory for a courtesy factory recall?? :D

I'll leave things alone beyond collecting photos of the components and comparables online. Do you see any value in including/getting a quote from an installer to replace the components on a truck?

^Not worth the time since the insurance co. won't be paying you replacement cost on the mods. You mentioned most of your mods were installed within the last 6 months. If you have receipts just add them up.

unless you have an aftermarket endorsement that says it will pay what you paid for them... at most you can send your adjuster the receipts and they will forward them to CCC for that sweet 10% of your purchase price.

keep in mind one huge thing....

99.9999999% of the time.... none of this matters if you have not paid the truck off and have gap on it

if insurance is not going to pay your loan off all of this back and forth, aftermarket receipt part bullshit is just going to save your gap company money on your gap claim.
