    Sorry op.

Because I’m clueless and curious, how does one steal a truck and take it through the border crossing without any flags?

One would think they would have the perps drivers license or passport information? With the real id requirements should be pretty easy to track the guy down?

They don’t check vehicle documentation to make sure you are the registered owner?

    We Just wave them through?

No, it's quite easy to drive right into Mexico without stopping.
    Many have done it accidently.

    Coming the other direction, however....

I think getting into Mexico is pretty simple, it's getting out with a vehicle that is hard(er).

All the border agents do is document the tag number and scan your passport. They don't care who the registered owner of the vehicle is or if it has insurance.

Probably significantly less than tsa processes a day?

Might be naive but I don’t see what the hang up is checking ids and paperwork lol. License and registration please, through the scanner, have a nice day. Like how airports work.

Mexico having little to no standards incoming makes sense.

U.S. border patrol said they unfortunately do not stop for leaving and it depends on Mexico police for entrance.

This has been asked but I didn't see an answer: How did they get the truck? Parked on the street? Scanner? Ignition bypass (or whatever it's called)? Sorry to hear.

There's some small chance the OP is a clairvoyant, or possesses second sight.
Then again, I suppose if he is or did, he still own the truck.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As someone who had to deal with this, I'm sorry.

Make sure they cover a rental and start shopping now. I had to pay out of pocket for a rental when trying to find a new vehicle.
