Need new shoes (another tire thread)

Hello all,

My truck has 40,000 km on her and I still have the shitty stock Dunlops AT20 which are pretty much worn out and not highway safe anymore, Ive been reading some threads about tires but we dont have that many options in Mexico.

I think Ive decided to go with the 265/70 R17 size, just so they look a lil bit bigger than stock (also if it doesn't carry further problems with the truck)

Now I'm undecided about doing an AT or HT tire, mainly because AT are heavier and noisier, but also cheaper than HT

The tires Im thinking of are

BFG All Terrain
Dueler Revo 2 (this I can buy 3 and get 1 free, but are still expensive)
Toyo open Country AT
Toyo open country HT
Michelin LTX MS2
Euzkadi Overlander HT
Goodyear Wrangler (dont know which one)
Also heard Pirelli Scorpion are good

Bottom line I need a reliable, comfortable, durable, cheap tire, not too much to ask huh?

Opinions?

 

nope.... main brands are Michelin, BFG, Uniroyal, Bridgestone Firestone, Goodyear, and i think i could choose the general grabber AW....toyo´s are special ordered....

BTW the Stock dunlops qualify as AT too dont they? (not that they actually work off road LOL)

To meet your "bottom line needs" I would say Firestone Destination AT.....great ratings on Tirerack and affordable.....may put these on my Tundra as I need new summer tires.

Having said that I just put BFG AT's on my little TACO because of my hunting needs in the fall:



When I got my TACO it came with brand new Pirelli Scorpion Ice&Snow...they were great this past winter:

Thanks, I was told about the Destination, but didnt got a quote, I was told they are more expensive than the Revo2, and those pirelli look good too so im more confused lol

We dont have that brand in Mexico

Comfort, ride and best bang for your buck? Michelin LTX. Hands down.

There's a reason 99% of ambulances run them. And yes, I've also had them on my own truck.

 

Michelins, I dont know, anyone has a picture of them mounted in a taco? they look like they belong on an expedition LOL

 

They're not the most aggressive, but they cannot be beat for comfort, ride and bang for buck.

 

yeah, Thanks man, im leaning towards them.... also i can get 6months no interest payment on them

the other option is revo2 i can get 4 tires for the price of 3, or 12 months no interest

 

I have the Michelin LTX MS2's and love them. I drive 99%highway so it is perfect for me. Smooth, 70K tread warranty and handles awesome in rain and gravel/dirt roads. Not very aggressive looking is the only negative I see. Check my profile to see pics of tire on my truck.

I'm in the same spot....I'm about to go for the REVO 2...since theere are not that many options in MX....I was trying to et the Dunlop's (originals), but almost impossible to get them in MX....
