Nothing Sony has put out for a long time is any good with the exception being the old ES components, or modern studio headphones

All their other stuff is just junk

    @time623

The big difference is going to be just how dynamic and accurate the nicer set of speakers will be compared to the cheap set.

Cheaper speakers will use large ported enclosures that muddy up any and all sound just to provide some extra "bass". But that bass can really be overwhelming in a home theater setup with explosions, music, or even strong vocals on-screen.

Granted a center speaker plays the most important role, they should be equally matched with appropriate fronts to provide a better soundstage. Makes pinpointing things easier like a velociraptor sneaking up at the front right of the screen but actually having it placed their accurately as well.

I've liked that the Mythos set uses passive radiators because lows and mids and much better controlled and a lot "tighter", but they will want some good amplification to play well. Especially when blending it in properly with a good subwoofer.

Ya, each day will get a handful of new hot/lightning deals for each category.

This year has been pretty lackluster IMO

I've never had any real experience with a 'nice' setup. Hoping this will be decent, but if it isn't I probably wont know any better lol

Can't seem to find an RMS on the Mythos 5 towers, just a 'handles 200w' rating, but for the Pioneer VSX45 AVR I have I'm finding 80W/ch. Does that seem mostly compatible?

might be worth watching your local thrift stores too…

my current system is pieced together with an old yamaha avr, sony towers, some polks, and a panasonic center. i think I have less than $100 into it and it gets compliments on how good it sounds compared to everyone’s own soundbar

Your Elite should play well with it.

You'd be surprised, a lot of 'better' speakers can handle a ton of power which is why people love running dedicated components. If you haven't had your ears on a nice setup, do yourself a favor and download some media for allowing you to properly set up your speakers.

Some AVR's even have the feature built-in and come with a mic for setting the appropriate sound levels per speaker based on the listener's position.

If you have carpet, you can do little things like placing your speakers on spiked feet. If you've got hardwood or laminate, get a small raised platform for your subwoofer.

Little things like this tighten up the sound a lot and make a big difference in a well-tuned setup. Used to do HT installs on the side for high-end setups when I lived in Chitown.

That's one thing I miss Chitown for - you could go through a thrift store and find some higher end audio components people just got rid of. Sometimes I think they were inherited goods and whatnot, because the audiophiles I met/ran into were all old

One of my favorite combinations oddly enough was a set of Magneplanar speakers paired with a sub I built using a HSU Research subwoofer driver tuned to a healthy 24hz or something like that.

Sadly this situation adds to my workload. Its is the misguided belief that it improves efficiency by a dramatic number. Not that I don't use it but I fix the errors before I send anything generated by it out.

Also, FB wanted to force out group to use their AI assistant and conversation starter. I found it to be 75% accurate at best. The 25% error factor can get you killed in remote and dangerous areas of our mountains. We don't have a CDOT or County Governments that care about trails where tourists roam like Colorado or Utah.

Think I'll send it on them then. Theyre right in the range I was looking for. Hopefully the guy responds, took 2 days to get the 'yes' its available response. Want to grab them tonight if he lets me..

They'll be basically free since its just cash from selling my axle. Money outside the bank doesn't actually exist :anonymous:

That’s pretty much how I’ve outfitted the garage with all this fab equipment! Minus the new welder which was a graduation gift.

Anyone need any Snap On power tools or a generator so I can buy more shit :anonymous:
