Yeah. A Subbie tech noted that. Just tried it out because of other ridiculous issues. Not even unbolting the mount, only jacking the oil pan gently. Much more room to work. Still, a stupid thing that should be a non-issue. I'm a Subaru hater since about 2016.

Im not a fan either, except for maybe a nicely modified STI

They're kinda this weird enigma of a vehicle where (for some reason) they have a reputation for reliability.. without actually being reliable haha

They do pay the bills though, they're always in the shop and people pay to fix them soooo..

A lot of V8 Fords from back in the day had awful access to the plugs for cylinders 7 & 8.

My dad had a car with a 351 that called for the engine mounts to be broken loose and for the motor to be tilted in the engine bay to access them. He said fuck that and drilled a hole in the inner fender on each side to reach them. Haha

Ohh that’s nice. Saabs are so cool. Wish they were still around.

@Bertw192 will disagree but at this point, I just like hearing a modded EJ. Always wanted one and glad it never happened.

    You are not wrong.

My current fun: Driving home from AZ, our 2014 XT started ticking under load only. Got louder through the first day. It ended up being just noticeable over the radio in the end. I thought that maybe one plug backed out or cracked a header. The right rear plug had a bit of an oil weep in the bore but was tight.

Somehow, one of the header nuts exited. Seems to have blown out part of the gasket. I just got all the other gaskets in hope that fixes it. Not looking forward to the effort.

That tech had me going down an engine swap rabbit hole. Thankfully the oil was clear. Heat shields are good also. Haha!

Oh yeah. My folks had GM cars. They could bury a plug if anyone could.

It was. The wrong Swede definitely went out of business, esp now that Volvo drivers took over for what Bimmer drivers used to be.

Homeboy musta moved outta Monroe cuz I woulda spotted him. Literally boatloads of tacos I see out my way and I would have definitely tuned into that truck. Been living just east of Sultan since 2018 and I never saw that tiger truck in Monroe.

I used to see the Tiger taco all the time in the Fremont area of Seattle around 2012. it does have a long history. I'd like to know more about the owner.

both the WRX and STi are huge in the import tuner world. You have a lot of people just bolting on engine mods without getting them tuned for the mods. Then they also run them very hard. So they blow engines like crazy. The community as a whole begs people to get them pro tuned for the mods they want to run, and actually consult a tuner about mods. But no matter how many warnings are put out there, people will still slap on intakes and downpipes and then run an off the shelf tune or no tune at all.

the general consensus is to never buy a used one unless you are absolutely sure it's stock and wasn't just reverted back to stock before the sale.

then you have people that just want popcorn tunes for the exhaust sound. or tunes specifically for shooting flames out of the tailpipes. It's a weird scene.

remove the spare tire from the front and absolutely get that thing flying and the front end will feel even more loose that tire was there to add some weight for balance

Yeah the spare is honestly no good anymore. I need to get some new rubber on it. I thought about putting it in the back as I’m not sure how the engine heat affects the tire…probably not much. I never really considered the weight reduction it would provide though

Spotted in Puyallup. Couldn’t get a better picture once it passed me.

For sure…didn’t notice that one in the picture. Originally he was behind me for a bit. Was thinking the gray one may be on here with the tuning sticker. I’m still considering getting mine tuned
