I got a couple, definitley a plan for 2 day but on more "normal truck" I think 1 could get it done. Previous owner made some awefully interesting decisions.

Was doing a little maintenance today and noticed my power steering fluid is pretty low.

    IMG_1253.jpg

Shame on me because i couldn’t tell you the last time i looked at it. Don't see any leaks, but hope this isnt a precursor for an issue with the rack.

What is everyone using for power steering fluid that is readily available. Will Mobile 1 synthetic ATF work?

Also, in for three bears on the 12th.

I use the valvoline maxlife full synthetic ATF which meets/exceeds the dexron2/3 standard needed for the taco. But also, sounds like you have a small leak. Not a major problem now but you may have to replace the rack eventually. You may just have to do a flush. What are your miles?

I see this at work a lot. The cap says to use ATF and people put power steering fluid in and wonder why there is a problem.

Thats right around the time I replaced my rack. Its not too bad of a job, just really tedious. Harry and John helped me out immensely with mine.

    @AllTacosFloat

Question. Why did you go with the pivot kit?
Bigger tires, long travel, OEM parts were trashed?

    Yes

Jack and Matt are expensive friends!
Clearing 35s is a bitch and this truck has always rubbed. Oem parts had been bashed and repaired a few times. Sick of hacking up fenders and fender flares so they don’t get ripped off.
If the truck was in better shape I would have gone with one of the LCAs that move the wheel forward.

If that's the same kit I read about, it does move the lower control arm forward a small amount.

BTF I believe is one of them, moves the wheel forward 3/4” and doesn’t require work to get skids to fit.
Not sure if I’ll be running my mid skid Saturday as there is bending, cutting and drilling in my future to mate the new skid to the old.

I still think the jd kit is a better use of funds than those lcas. Tucking the skid up as high as possible and backing it with 1.5" tubes I think will serve you well.

As well as getting rid of the tin foil lca pickup points.

Totally agree for me it was the best choice but how many others truly need it. The LCAs would be the easiest option for the clearance and you can always go back or sell them. Once you have the Jd kit there’s no going back. Again not an issue for me.
