looking to order a tacoma truck from manufacturer

New hear. Can one order a tacoma her way. Plain jane, too many bells and whistles that I do not understand. Basically looking to purchase a basic truck.

While going through the buying process, it was a surprise to find that Toyota didn’t allow actual orders. If you find a good dealership and tell them what you want, they can look for it and if you don’t let perfect be the enemy of good, you will likely get very close to what you want though maybe not exactly (in my case the only add-on I got stuck with was the poorly designed mud guards). Just make sure the $500 deposit they ask for is refundable and you have nothing to lose if they don’t find one you like. Good luck

 

As @nurp42 said, you can't order a Tacoma from the factory like you can other brands. Lotsa searchable threads about this on TacomaWorld. The best you can do is tell the dealer what you want, and they search for it, or see what's coming outta the factory and how well it matches your request. Toyota builds what they build, and that's what the market receives.

 

No, and the government, through regulation, doesn't allow us to purchase "basic" vehicles any longer.

Just FYI—— the I-force is the gas only engine. The hybrid is the I-force Max. The fact that you’re not in a hurry to get it done should work to your advantage—— if what you want is not a popular option (like mine) it may take longer than the high volume sellers, but if you can wait a while, they’ll probably be able to find very close to what you want.

 

You can "build" one online and then search dealer inventory/availability in your area by zip-code on the Toyota Website. It sounds like you would be looking for some flavor of the "SR" trim which is the base level that a commercial outfit is looking for. (i.e.: "Pest Extermination Truck" base trim)

Be aware/ready for sticker shock as even these base trucks will still set you back/start at $30+K, and still have a fair amount of "Gizmo's" on them.
