Well, that's a new one for me...I can hit a golf ball with a 3 wood into Michigan (literally) from my back yard. There is really no animosity towards Americans til we hit the hockey rink. Now, there are wingnuts everywhere that buck the trend, like perhapages you drive a blue truck that would make it a target but that's just me...

Honestly the biggest hassle you will likely encounter is at the border to ensure you are not bringing into Canada your 2A rights (don't).

Other than that you should be good to go,

    Where are you crossing over?

Again, blue trucks...all the above advice goes out the window

    Ha! Definitely don't have that.

Super excited to get to some real fishing. 20 years ago took a float plane an hour north from Kenora. Best week of my life!

Oh fvck....don't cross at the Bluewater bridge crossing (doesn't make sense logistically)...it's too close to me

    ummm .....ya.
Depending on how much time you have...Kingston would be a back road tour to get you there. Going east towards Ottawa and follow the Mattawa River up that way or go west and cut up 62 towards Bancroft and over towards Halliburton....Or if your down with the 4 lane shuffle cross at Buffalo/Ft Erie QEW/407/400 to 11.
I guess it depends what your time frame is and your tolerance for pin head New Canadian drivers...thats a real thing.
Oh and check out VMUTS trail system while your in the area.

I couldn’t imagine anyone being that ignorant to do that. Hell, let us know when and where and we can do a trail run. Maybe stay out of Quebec, the amount of shit I’m getting for Ontario plates has been a great time.

Yeah some things are crazy. About 15 years ago I was at a semi pro hockey game at the bud light arena in Quebec. Couldn't even get a Molson or Labatts for crying out loud...

Anyway - appreciate everyone's advice. Will reach out again as things formalize. Thanks!

Be mindful of where you park in cities as general risk of theft is high for Toyota trucks and SUVs. Two club members here have had their Tacomas stolen. Risk is the same whether you have US or Can plates - if it fits in a shipping container, it's liable to be "exported" from the port of Montreal in 24hrs.

As already mentioned the VMUTS trail system starts in nearby Mattawa, https://vmuts.ca/ . The area that'll you'll be going to was hit pretty hard by a tornado a couple weeks ago. The provincial park was wiped out.

Feel free to chime in here if you need anything. Most of us fit the stereotypical nice Canadians.

I can't imagine you having any issues. While a good portion of Canadians do have some issues with the current American administration, I think 99.9% of us are smart enough to not take this out on a random dude trying to enjoy a vacation, lol. I'm working up in Parry sound right now, and a lot of the locals are actually happy seeing American plates, we'd rather have the tourist money coming to us.

Vmuts (mattawa, already mentioned) and ardbeg are two great wheeling spots. Maybe join some Ontario 4x4 Facebook pages to find guys who want to get out for a weekend and show you around, it's a great time.
