I am the only 4clyd 2nd gen, that wheels, out of the TW and TTORA groups I have met. No one gives me shit. Most people don't even know I have a 4clyd.

How's that 4-cyl do at altitude (above 10k feet) in Colorado?

I don't get any shit, I can go to all the places a V6 can.

But they do tell me how much I would love the V6 over the I4. I believe them....

Right now with the gas prices the way they are giving someone shit for having a 4cyl doesn't make much sence... I'll wait for the prices to come down a bit.:)

Take a look at other 4 cylinders and be happy you got what you got...

    Ford ranger I4 - 143hp and 154tq

    Even the 3.0 V6 - 148hp and 180tq

Our tank of a 2.7 makes more power than both the I4 and 3.0 V6 ranger...

Toyota makes great I4's. Doesn't matter what people say about it...

Of course I get shit because it's so slow, but it's a truck lol...all my buddies drive cobra's, s2k's, etc..:D

if anything, I "give shit" to the hucksters out there who who massive V8 trucks with no tow hitch and a tool box in the back which probably has a maglite and a raincoat inside it. My truck will go plenty of places a big 4x4 v8 wont go - like past 180k miles...

I have not heard any lip, but If I did I would ignore it. The "bigger is better/more manly" argument loses traction when it is espoused by someone who can barely control the truck, or cannot translate off-road driving skills onto the paved surface ( heavy rain, snow-covered, or icy roads). Then you have those who use barely 50% of the engine's power.....

I was just in this situation last week on what Motor to get. I got the 2.7 I4 and I love it. Its not a big motor but its perfect for bombing around and keeping the MPG up. I only have a small camper Im getting so I dont NEED the V6 yet. My next Tacoma in about 4-5 year will probably be the V6 though, if not then a full size truck. Love the 5 speed 2.7 though, super fun to drive. Even with the first tank of gas that people said I would get bad mpg Im over 300 kms and still 5/8 of the tank left! No mod to anything, and still have a afe filter and take the 2nd one out!

No one has given me grief for my choice in truck or engine. I can't say I'd care too much if they did. The truck is perfect for me and exactly what I wanted.

I wouldn't buy a 4 cyl myself. I have no problem with them though if they fit the need of owner that's all that matters.

While I can agree and I would never buy a V6 in a car like that, the new V6 Mustangs are pretty quick. About as fast as what the 2005-2010 4.6 GT's were. I'd still have to have the 5.0 myself though.

I have not gotten any shit for my I4. Again, it all circles back to what you are using your vehicle for. I bought my truck for my future anticipated use. Myself, my dog, fishing rod and surfboards. I can access any outer beach that everyone else can. And I'm using much less gas. I am not towing anything either. Plus I really enjoy manual transmission vehicles. Yeah it's fun to drive a truck with a lot of balls, but why get one if you don't really need it. All about your use and lifestyle.

the 4 cyl is perfect in the regular cabs, but anything bigger needs a v6 IMO.

Of course when it comes to the pre tacos, I would take a 4cyl over the v6 any day.

Theres only like a 250lbs difference. Thats just like saying its ok for a regular cab unless you have a passenger lol

Says 290 to be exact. So ya a bit of a difference but not enough to worry. Theres a 705lbs difference if you go to a 2x4 reg cab over a 4x4 access cab though. That a bit of a difference
