I actually love the Hi-Viz yellow/green color! I used to have a light jacket I always wore that I loved, but it finally wore out riding (atvs/sxs).

If I had more patience, I'd absolutely be down to get a kit like this. Or if I had the money, have it painted, lol.

Thanks! That's really odd, I wonder if someone will come up with a mod to be able to install an oil filter in the future.

If it's anything like the old XRs, you could prolly run them 10 or 20 years without an oil change and they wouldn't notice.

I stumbled across a deal that was too good to pass up on some LeoVince pipes. I had said that I'd keep the stock pipes on the FJR since I do like the "turbine-like" sound and they are pretty quiet; which comes in handy when you're blatantly ignoring posted speed limits, haha! Anyhow, I've had LeoVince pipes on many bikes in the past and always liked them. Build quality is top tier and they sound great without being obnoxious; they give off a nice "performance sound" if you know what I'm trying to say. So here they are...

There are a pair of those on the 2013 I bought. Nice sound but on long rides I do wear ear plugs.

Yep, I 100% get down with Hi Viz in and around the Seattle metro area. I ditch it if I know I'm riding away from the city though, where people get a little bit of sense back.

I was surprised there's not more Hi-Viz tail bags available! That'd be good for traveling, I'm sure.

I think "hi viz" has become the new urban camo. It's so ubiquitous because of never ending construction, utility work, etc. that people don't even notice it. I'd rather have a bright red or orange (think Solar Octane) item than the hi viz yellow, because I think it would be noticed more readily.

Read a pretty cool article one time about quality yellow hi viz being so visible because they've found a way to make it reflect more light than is visible to the human eye. It reflects some of the ultra-violet back into the spectrum that we can see, so it literally is brighter, not just higher contrast, etc. Apparently it works similarly to what's put in those laundry brighteners.

That's pretty neat. Still, people ignore what they see alot, even if it's super visible. The brain blocks out the mundane.

Selective attention section of this video, though I recommend the whole thing. It's good info.

Good Vid. The thing about paying attention to your shadow was something I never really thought of before. I definitely like to move back and forth in my lane hoping people notice me better, but I haven't yet started waving at every car at intersections, lol.

I run extra lighting, reflective wheel tape, reflective decals on the back of my saddlebags, reflectors on my license plate, and on one bike a brake light module with adjustable flash pattern. Sometimes that's still not enough.

Personally I'm of the opinion that no matter what you do it's most dependent on the driver in question. Some people will see motorcycles if they are all blacked out in gear in low light, some people won't see a motorcycle if it's right next to their window in the most unique color you could imagine with a deafening exhaust.

Obviously increasing visibility is good, but I approach it with the mentality that people aren't going to see me regardless and ride accordingly

I once pulled up next my aunt in her Kia on a long straight stretch on a rural road, I was in a full sized pickup, honked and waved repeatedly. Was alongside her for probably 500+ yards, finally finished the pass and headed to my grandparents place. She caught up to me there, and I brought it up, she didn't even remember anyone passing her.

    Yup.

My mom is very guilty of this. we work together, and often leave at similar times. i usually leave a minute or two after because I have to gear up. Plenty of times I have ended up next to her at a light, and she is just totally oblivious even if I am looking at her, waving at her, etc. Doesn't notice until I tap on her window then she gets surprised and yells at me to be safe.

I've been behind her in my truck as well, which is not easy to miss, following her for miles only for her to never realize.

I see both. Usually vests are yellow and cones are orange. I see the yellow more on utility workers.
