Yeah I think that's par for the course here too. If I drive by the fields at sunset I usually see a TON more deer than I pick up on my cam. That said, I don't spend a lot of time looking at cameras, I'm more of 'get in the stand and see what happens' guy... We only have 30 acres anyway.

Depends on where you live. Or at least are willing to go. I used to hunt in Six Rivers National Forest out of Qasquet CA. Had pretty good luck. I’ve also hunted in the Sierra National Forest out of Oakhurst Ca. These were mostly Muleys and the same in the Trinity Alps and between Willow Creek and Redding. And in the forests around Del Norte County out of Crescent City. These were smaller coastal blacktails.

Having enough land to spread your hunting pressure around sure makes a difference. Like at least three different areas and that allow different winds to be hunted. Otherwise folks seem to habitually pound the same spots and wonder why deer sightings drop off. Doesn’t take hundreds of acres, could be just several small tracts and enough so that you can rotate. Fortunate to have that where I live as well as larger tracts of land. Also makes for convenient easy access to hunts like after work etc. I joined a large club this year with around 2500 acres. Some large block clear cuts. A number of established club stands. Planning to try saddle hunting the gaps and edges to start with and maybe pick off any bucks that may be wise to the hunting pressure. Club has size restrictions and they have some good deer. That’s the plan anyway. And I’m about to buy a bergara sierra wilderness .308 I think. Messed up and handled one yesterday at cabelas.

Just curious, how many members in this club and how do you decide who gets to hunt where?
