    This and that
Mexico doesn’t really have to care if you come in with a stolen car, not their problem, they don’t benefit by stopping them. Made me wonder how many cars out there are stolen. Some deep country to drive into.

Did you have all the receipts or use quotes of comparable?

Regarding where it was stolen from, it was parked out front of my house. Unsure what their method was but there was not any broken glass.

They get the signal from the proximity of the key fob and then replicate a key and drive off.

:annoyed:I’m religious about turning off my fob every time I leave my truck. This morning I walk out to go to work at 5 AM and as soon as I get near it, the interior lights came on. My heart sank when I realized I forgot to do it last night.

The prepared gringo doesn’t cross at TJ with his newly repo’d truck. He crosses at Mexicali or San Luis. :rasta:

Don’t worry it can still be copied when turned off so don’t let your heart sink too much.

Easier to just throw the fob in a cookie tin or dedicated faraday box.

Fucking bums. Sorry you have to deal with this.

When my family's CT200h got totaled, Geico will pull out comparables near your area and judge the price they will pay you based off their comparisons.

Make sure your area is correct. They accidentally set my family's location to a city in TX. Then, they corrected them to CA (which is the state they are in) and as a result, my family got compensated more from their car because CA cars are more expensive.

Anyways, hope the process goes smooth. It went smoothly for my family's car, but the situation is a bit different as the car was bone stock totaled from an accident (not at fault).

Given that’s it’s in probably in Sonora now, my hopes are decreasing.

Pretty heartbroken over all of this.

Tried a few SUVs from friends and they aren’t the same as a truck unfortunately. However, not ready to replace my truck so it’s a bit of a quagmire.

Bummer dude, sucks to have anything stolen, especially your vehicle and one that you’ve put so much time and money into at that. Hope it works out alright in the end.

I know you're attached to it, but personally I wouldn't want it back after something like this. I don't think you would either. The 3rd gens are quickly becoming outdated.

The 4th gens have some improvements you might like. Boxed frame, 4 wheel disc brakes, 8 speed automatic, no more wonky shifting habits, low end power, ect.

Start with a clean slate and buy something new when insurance cuts you a check. You don't have to stay with Toyota. Your options are wide open.

Thank you. Logically there are good updates but it’s mostly the attachment. I bought this my second year of grad school and saved to pay it off the following year. Had it was my girlfriend and now wife for 6 years through a lot of good and not so good time.

It would need to be a boxy vehicle, truck or SUV. Nice if it’s already got good suspension after this (2.5” shocks).

Tried an RX450 today, love how quiet it is but wish it was more boxy and drove more like my truck. Could do an LC200 but they are getting old.

Maybe a new Sequoia? At least it’s different and likely has good space, but a bit wide and I don’t think they have good articulation. Twin turbo V6 Hybrid is a nice power train. Not sure how the road noise is?

New 4Runner has Cavalry Blue which is a nice homage. Not sure how the storage space is or the i4 hybrid?

After all this I’m not in the mood to build out a new truck and what I’d like to do to it would be a bit.

Alternative is move on to a commuter vehicle. With my career currently life is work and some time to go to the gym and beach with my wife.

Get a cheap beater Accord or Camry or such
Drive it for awhile, since it's cheap you can save up and think about what truck you want next

Totally sucks - I am sorry some jerkoff took your truck, more so that the 'drive it straight to Mexico' seems to be common AF
I drive pretty conservatively, mostly out of fear some jerkoff will hit my truck; theft isn't really an issue where i live and i park it in the garage anyways

Sucks. Sorry man. a lot of insurance companies have it written into the contract about aftermarket parts reimbursement. When my truck got totaled I had a $1500 allowance. Just had to show them some receipts.

I agree. Even with my truck having a short 5 foot bed, I still much prefer having a pickup over an SUV.

I can never really get into SUVs unless it's a fast one like a Cayenne GTS or a full-size BOF model like a Yukon.
