I helped my dad replace our water heater when I was a kid. It was connected with, at that time, probably 20 year old corrugated copper pipes. After bending them out of the way to get the old one out, and then bending it back to connect the new one, when we turned the water back on it sprayed out of like 10 new holes like a sprinkler

    Oof

Multiple houses I replaced them in had those flexible hoses (similar to those on a washer)

Copper piping is old school, and expensive AF if it was all throughout the house

My house is mostly galvanized pipe, it's great from a serviceability standpoint but it's awful from a "rust flakes come out of my fixtures sometimes" standpoint.

man some people need to get their shit together

friend committed to buying a vehicle today and was gonna take my trailer to pick it up. they didn’t actually have a tow vehicle so they were going to pick up a rental truck and grab the trailer after work last night… except they didn’t actually have any plans for a rental either and panicked all night trying to find one. figured it was all off… guess they found one this morning , they texted me “be there 15” and “you around?”

no dawg, i have work, and meetings. if you want to borrow my shit you could at least do me the courtesy of not assuming im always around to help

    We had that in Chicago!

Had forgotten all about it until you mentioned it. I remember removing the little "screen filter" on the faucet when the flow was less and seeing crud come out.

Yup, I do that to let the flakes out once a year and I soak all the ends in white vinegar for a couple hours before putting them back.

that was our old 1926 house, if we went on vacation for a few days when we came back and turned on the water, we'd have to let it run for a few minutes to "get the brown out" lol. Probably gonna end up with cancer or some shit from it later

Rust itself is fairly harmless really, iron is too, but galv has higher levels of lead and zinc that aren't so great for growing persons but mostly fine for adults.

My first ex had a brother who quit grad school to move to Vegas and make a living playing Blackjack. This was back in like 2005, no idea what happened to him after that

This is the shit I'll pull out when Theo's old enough to beat me at these new, modern games

Show him what's up with some Tekken 2, Mortal Kombat or Marvel vs Capcom

i am very bitchy today. daily dose of nightmares to start the morning fresh, then my manager sending chat gpt generated messages about time management when multiple people complained about the workload and frantic pace in our team retro yesterday. same manager is also picking up code work using ai because i guess my teammate and i arent moving fast enough :duh: looked at the git metrics and both of us are in the top 3 out of 30 for all benchmarks in the stack
