And now for something completely different.

Years ago I got a funky white fuzz that was accumulating in one of the lab ovens. So I stuck it in the scope and snapped a few photos. (zinc oxide precipitate, it turned out.)

Yes. My favorite million dollar toy to play with. When I quit that job they didn't let me take it with me.

It lasted a couple months, until someone that either hated Appalachia or loved antifa removed it.

My niece was taking a panoramic and once she passed me I ran around behind her in the opposite direction of the pan and put myself back in the photo.

The reflection is like glass, and the exposure throughout is perfect.

Yes, I think I had an iPhone 14 at that time. I've got and Cannon AE1 and a bunch of lenses that were my mother's prior, but I haven't touched them since I took a photography class as a college elective.
I have tweaked photos before on my phone with an app called Snapseed, but I don't think I did anything to that one. If anyone is looking for a photo editing app, with my limited experience, I recommend giving Snapseed a try. It's a free Google product, easy to use and more features than I know what to do with.

I'm an early riser and in the summer when not a workday I usually go down to the dock with a coffee and do the crossword puzzle, so I have lots of opportunity for good sunrise photos. The photo you asked about was taken in October 2023 while Maine was on lock down for a mass shooting event. At the time of the photo, I remember thinking, if people had more stuff like this in their life would they do what they do. Another part of me was thinking, it's almost November, WTF am I doing with my dock still in the water.

Thanks for sharing the info and pix.

It’s nice to have something beautiful to shoot at so close to where you sleep. You get to see it every day and snap shots at the magic moments.

Now you got me thinking of lakeside property for the retirement house.
