@50Buck has got it right. Dealerships can not legally sell a new or used vehicle without a clear title. It's straight up fraud. They may be trying to hide something, like being stolen.

Now, this may vary by state. In Colorado, they would never be able to do this and if they did it's a void contract, you're money would be refunded in full, or the dealer loses it's sales license.

Google "Can a dealership sell a used vehicle in (your state) without a clear title"
That should get you the info you need in your particular case.

Contact dealer, be calm and polite, and demand they fix it immediately, not when they are damn good and ready, but right now, today. Otherwise demand a full refund plus whatever you have spent on the bike. Don't hesitate to mention legal action. I would be calling an attorney immediately if the dealer doesn't seem to be moving to make it right. It's Saturday, they should be open and fully staffed.

That sucks they did that, hopefully just a "mistake" on their part.

    Honestly....
I'll have to look into it with my state for the title section but ya Im gonna be needing to talk to some type of lawyer. With my work I pay a bit of money monthly to get a lawyer when ever I need it so looks like I might be using that!

It is Saturday but they are not fully staffed. The office people are not in usually on weekends just the sales and techs

I am under the assumption you have not brought up the issue to the dealer yet?
If not, definitely give them a call and say what's up with this. Get the ball rolling. You had plans for the weekend that are now ruined.

I called them shortly after I posted this to see what other ideas people had for me and where I stand with this. Since I've never been in this situation.

But yes the dealer has been called a time has been set to talk with the office people, sales manager and owner on Monday. Since office and owner are not there on weekends it's just sales and sales manager and techs.

Make them do the talking. Don't agree to anything. Don't give permission for anything. If you get a lawyer for "free" through work, use that.

Cool, that's a good start. If they are a reputable dealership, they should make it right. Let's hope they just made a mistake. It's possible paperwork has just not made it's way to the DMV and signals are crossed, etc...
Crap like this always seems to happen on weekends and holidays and it's frustrating to not get answers in a timely fashion.

    Sounds good hopefully it's simple...
I've had the bike for a bit over two months.. first issue was the title took a week to be sent to me and when they did send it the dang thing got lost in the mail thanks USPS! So it didn't show up for two something weeks...

Next was we found an issue with the title the first time which was they messed parts up and I needed to get a notorized bill of sale.. that took them another two weeks to sort out and then it became roughly the 4th of july weekend and now this.

Here, they print off the new title in your name when you go to get it registered.

When I bought that Dyna, the last known owner was deceased and the title was out of state, even though the bike was licensed here. It really didn't take much more than a death certificate and a vin search to make it mine. They printed a fresh title right on the spot.

Dang that sounds easy... Here if someone passes you do need a death cert but it still has to be sent to the state and wait a few weeks before you get a title in your name.

Dealers in PA never get a title in their name. They have the PO sign off of it in front of a notary so that when the sealer in turn sells the bike the buyer just signs the appropriate places and the title is then sent to the state so a new title can be issued in the new owner's name. Provided the title was signed off by the original owner and that was notarized it could have stayed that way until you purchased it and signed off in the correct places.

If Dell's has any sort of decent reputation they should make it right. It's aggravating and it sucks, I agree. I would request a suitable loaner bike with a dealer plate to ride until such time as your title is correctly in your hands and your name. Since you are not legally able to use it without risk of fines or possible impoundment of yur vehicle I would push that strongly with them.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
That may be the way it initially went down...until USPS lost the original title, with all of the signatures. I would think the dealer would need to get this straightened out to keep their license. Their finance guy should've known that before issuing a bill of sale.

Just got home from a 335 mile ride hunting down GLMC and Team Strange locations. Here's a few highlights:

Saxton, PA Team Strange bonus. Saxton was mentioned in Henry VI.

GLMC locations next. Coaldale, PA at Rookeez Sports Bar. Looks a little run down, unsure if it's still open or not.

Martinsburg, PA for Stock's Dairy Bar. Opens at 11:00 so I was too early. Ice Cream is a weakness of mine.

A side of chips is next in Altoona, PA at Roundhouse Harley Davidson. They have a separate showroom with Honda and Kawaski as well. Originally I was only getting chips from locations worth 2 points from towns starting in GLM or C but realized points are points so now I stop.

I've amassed a pretty nice collection of poker chips from HD and Indian dealerships at this point. 29 of them worth 43 total points. I have finisher status in just chips.

    Gallitzin, PA
    [IMG]

    Cresson, PA
    [IMG]

    Lilly, PA
    [IMG]

I've been here before to take a different picture. Link to the story and what I wanted to see for myself.
    https://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/23115

Loretto, PA for another run down looking place.

Finally one last Team Strange stop. Clearfield Township sign. It contains "lear" as in King Lear so it's worth 1point.

You can see how my EZPass for the turnpike is on the left side of my windscreen where it's worked well for thousands of miles on 3 FJRs. Somewhere along my ride home on some of PA's not so finest roads I felt something hit my left foot. Wasn't really heavy, didn't see anything right away. Phone was still there, GPS was good, Tankbag lid was closed. Pulled over about 1/2-3/4 of a mile later and looked to make sure my frame slider hadn't come off on that side and finally concluded the vehicle in front of me must have kicked something up and went about my way. Roughly 30-40 minutes later I suddenly realized my EZPass was gone! SHIT!

At this point even remembering exactly where I was when I felt that hit my foot was out of the question. I figure traffic behind me likely crushed it into a million pieces and I just hope no one punctured a tire. Logged into my EZpass account and reported it lost. Replacement on the way, cost me $10.

By my count I now have visited 195 GLMC locations and have 209 points. Team Strange I show 80 locations and 214 points.

Weather permitting, I have a 300+ mile route heading into VA tomorrow morning.

Missed that part about the USPS losing it. You are correct, burden should fall on the dealership.

I do think that is how it normally is the issue according to the DMV is the fact the vehicle has changed hands 3 times since the last owner. So someone should have put the vehicle in their name either copart or dells. That's what they are telling me at least.

They use to have a great rep but as of late then seem to be faltering on paper work and making owners annoyed with them.

I didn't think about a loaner bike but I should push for that. If they are going to at least try and fix it. The issue I'm seeing after talking to my dad and a legal friend of ours. To get this title fixed they are going to have to contact the original owner to sign it back away. So hopefully no issues there but wait and see...
No so when it got lost by USPS it did show up 2.5 weeks after it was stated to show up. So the title I have is the original from the guy when he bought it back in 2022.

The finance guy is the one that messed all of this up! He scribbled on the title to mark out a price.

@Calamity_taco dang that sucks! Hopefully they make it right by you! In other news I just changed the hardest tires of my life! All was going well removing the old tires but the new tires were the stiffest tires I have ever installed and to make it worse they were on a 14 and 12 inch rim. With how easy the PW50 tires went I thought the bigger wheels would be easier, boy was I wrong! Got it done though!

Rode this morning in the rain and temps in the 60's, was totally comfortable with all the layers on. Except for the rain on the visor, prolly try some Rain-X for plastic unless someone has a better suggestion. I used to have a glove with a finger squeegee that did ok, but tended to leave scratches with a lot of use.
Rode tonight temps in the 70's, and was sweating bullets. Should have removed a few layers.
And my headlight flat sucks. I mean scary sucks. The fogs are great, but having to turn them off with oncoming traffic leaves me virtually blind and riding like Helen Keller.
