Food plots

Last plot is planted.

 

Moved the deer blind from N.C. to Virginia where we moved last year. Need a place for a food plot in front of the blind so my son and I are making one. We are going to clear about 1/2-3/4 of an acre.

 

Them stumps gonna be a pain in the ass!

 

I got a buddy with a 14K lb hoe that insist on digging them out for me

 

That’s a good buddy to have!

 

Starting to green up.

 

Starting to see more sunshine.

 

Food plots look pretty good but could use a nice rain.

 

Got done cutting and sowed some seed, need a little rain. This is sitting in the blind, about 100 yards to the end.

Ours has some green showing, got 3” of rain on it last week.

 

They started out great then it got hot and dry for about 3 weeks with no rain. I did some over seeding then we got 2.7 inches of rain the past week and now they’re coming back nicely.

 

Put some lime down today.

That’s more than we can do, can’t put any kind of mineral or bait out in the county we live in, year round.

I did spray ours with round up today, I’ll give it a week or two and replant it in clover. Hopefully it’ll grow this time around.

 

I haven’t touched my food plot in a couple years . Although lots of clover is still growing among the weeds .

 

Not in Illinois, that’s a no no!
