@Dm93 Alternator replaced and drain from the voltage regulator is gone. 4WD computer replaced and it works like a charm. #screwyoulightning. Thanks for walking me through it. Saved me some cash!

    Nice, glad it's fixed.
What did you end up doing with the security light, snip the wire?

Nothing yet. I ordered one of those OBD2 scanners. The mechanic that did my safety inspection told me there were error codes in there related to the immobilizer system. So once I get that tool I can actually read the errors. If I can’t clear them to make it go away, then I’ll snip it.

@Dm93 so I may have spoke to soon on the parasitic draw issue. The parasitic draw is down from 300 ma to 18mA so the new alternator definitely was the drain issue. But I let the truck sit overnight. Went out this morning and it started right up. Sat in the truck while it’s running reading how to reset the TOMS light. Shut the truck off. Put the key in the ON position for about one minute to watch the TPMS light. Then I went to start it and there wasn’t enough juice. Brand new alternator and battery when charging is 13.8 volts. Why would it drain the battery in the ON position so quickly? Especially after it just started the truck after sitting for the night.

No way the battery drained that fast with the key on if it was charged, either it's crap or it needs to be fully charged.

It held a charge all night. Started right up. But that minute in the ON and then try to start and starter tries but not enough to turn it over. I could take a look at the amp draw with the key in ON to see if it’s unusual. If it’s reasonable than maybe the battery is f’ed up too.

There's nothing on the truck that would draw enough to kill a good battery in minutes, either the battery is crap or needs to be fully charged.
