One should always be alert to the possibility of leading the barrel on a new .22 LR firearm.
My Walther P22 cannot tolerate lead round nose cartridges, they will lead the barrel like you wouldn't believe.
When I say lead the barrel, I mean fill the grooves with lead.

Mind you, I was using Remington Thunderbolts that had been given to me.
Accuracy quickly went to Hell, and a cursory check revealed the cause.
My Marlin 39A (micro groove rifling) doesn't mind them, but accuracy is poor anyway with Thunderbolts regardless of the firearm.
Thunderbolts are plain lead and rather soft, and can scrub, depending on the type of rifling.
Plinking ammo at best.

I use CCI copper plated .22 LR now exclusively.


You're probably gonna be fine... just saying.
Dunno how sharp and aggressive the rifling is on that Ruger.
CCI lead round nose will be better quality (lead/ antimony), I should think.

Not often, but yes.

I'm not alone in thinking Remington Thunderbolts are just about the worst of the bulk .22 ammo.
Anything copper plated is a safe bet.
