2023 Idle problem

Why does my Toyota Tacoma 2023 V6 SR5 advance about 1000 RPMs at about 26 and 33 MPH when coasting up to a stop light or stop sign and the truck lurches froward slightly each time.

Also does anybody have and idle vibration in the steering wheel while waiting at a light with your foot on the brake(same truck as above)

It sounds like it is downshifting.

 

My truck has a slight vibration at idle when in gear at a light , mostly goes away if I put it N or park . Seems more noticeable in hot weather .

 

Perhaps downshifting?

If you have 2023 truck and you got it new, it is still under warranty so you should bring it to Toyota Dealership and have it checked up.

I wouldn't use any after market junk, it will void your warranty. Besides, the V6 already has port and direct injectors, there is almost no chance for any serious carbon build up, its built like diesel. Maybe in 20 years there will be some build up.

Truck launching forward down/up shifting sounds like Tacoma transmission thing, but shouldn't do it if you have foot off the gas pedal. The transmission likes to jerk forward sometimes because its all over the place.

Mine has no vibrations in steering wheel at all, i dont think thats normal. Use your warranty while covered and have it checked up, sit next to the mechanic who takes it for test drive

 

Yes, and dealer said it’s normal. There are several threads on this as well. When I test drove another ‘23, it did the same thing. I don’t notice it anymore after 15k miles.

 

Had a 19 and now my 22 both have a mild vibration sitting at a stop while in gear, they always have. Both are V6 Sport 2wd. My friend also has an SR5 4wd and riding in his it does exactly the same thing.

It’s just a thing they do, there’s nothing wrong with it.

 

My 2023 developed a rough idle at around 7,500 miles switched to top tier premium and after a couple tanks it smoothed out. I’m at 26,000 miles now smooth as glass.

 

2018 4WD here and never had an issue, but I run 93 and a tune. Knocking on 30k miles.
