Yes I agree. I have been pondering that a lot. I am going to take some time off and then tackle some projects around the house. Hopefully it cools off a little.
At first it will be woodshop time, church service, and then the part time work will eventually reveal itself.

Good morning. The new HVAC gets installed today. Going to make fajitas for dinner tonight. Get to try out the griddle insert on the new smoker.

 

My last day of work was with very little fan fare. Except for the smile on my face. No escort. Just “here is your layoff notice. Sign here” ,” don’t bother swiping in, we’re paying you four hours for your trouble.” That was back in 22. November.

Good morning all.

Weekend was busy so work almost seems like relaxing after all that. Rode about 660 miles over the weekend.

 

You guys need a break

 

Yeah if they walk me out I'm fine with that. There won't be any pay if they do that. This is a cheap company that treats people very poorly. There's a revolving door for the employees. Half the company is now sponsored immigrants, mainly Mexicans. They really don't care about their people.

 

Companies treat people like machines, always have, always will,- greed!

 

I remember when hired, my Director told me that we are ‘disposable’

 

Sometimes worse. Old horse analogy, never put a horse in a stable wet an tired. Same way with every thing really. Especially workers

 

Yes. They called us "at will employees"

I figured if I stayed long enough, I better have a WILL.

 

The company I just left uses that mindset, and as a result, they are losing customers almost daily due to the exodus of talent.

My new company does not use that mindset as they realize the vast majority of their associates possess skills and knowledge which make them highly valued and which the company does its best to make them feel well respected and compensated.

Long story short, companies are as varied as humans, some are great, some are pretty crappy.
